Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 – Unboxed

The unwired have had a hands on with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 and put together an unboxing video.

Announced a few weeks ago the X2 is to be the replacement to the X1.  No official launch date has been confirmed here in the UK.

Now we wont bore you with more rumoured information in this post, but merely show you a promotional trailer for the device.  So if you are already scratching at your screen or one, then this video is no doubt going to get you a little agitated

Sony Ericsson Xperia X2

It is here.  Sony Ericsson have pulled the covers off the successor to the Xperia X1, the Xperia X2 otherwise known to some as the Vulcan.

With a similar form factor and specification to the original X1, the X2 is a justifiable upgrade because of the following:

  • Windows Mobile 6.5 Operating System
  • New Slide View navigation system – designed to allow users to access frequently used actions such as calls and text messages easily.
  • New updated ‘Panels’ including, Google, Skype and Windows Live
  • TV Out
  • 8.1 megapixel camera

Take a look at it.  It looks pretty good!

  

If you are an X1 lover you may be dying to get your hands on one of these.  There is no launch date or price yet, but expect to see it in the very near future.

There have been recently a lot more blog traffic around the rumours of the Sony Xperia X2, which it is suggested will replace the Sony Ericsson Xperia 1 later this year

There have been a number of leaked pictures that apparently show the design of the Xperia X1

4Win Mobile recently had a link which showed the specs to offer

  • 8 MP Camera with autofocus, VGA Video
  • 3.5 inch OLED WVGA Screen
  • Assisted GPS
  • 3.5mm Headphone socket
  • Accelerometer
  • Faster Processor
  • A custom version of Windows 6.5
  • Potential to upgrade to Window 7 when it is released.

Over at WMEXperts, schematics of the proposed Sony EXPERIA X2, the successor to the X1, have just been published.  As of yet, an expected release date has not been revealed, although rumoured specifications are published on the WMExperts site. These include:

  • 8.1MP camrea with autofocus, VGA video at 30 frames per second.
  • A 3.5-inch WVGA OLED touchscreen.
  • aGPS
  • 3.5MM headphone jack.
  • Accelerometer.
  • "Faster processor" (the X1 has a Qualcomm MSM7200A running at 528MHz)
  • 512MB RAM
  • Custom Windows Mobile 6.5 (SE engineers customized Win6.5 which runs very. very speedy. in par with iPhone and better in some cases)
  • Upgrading to Windows Mobile 7 is supported by Xperia panels

Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 – Launched Tomorrow?

We recently posted images of what was rumoured to be a new Sony Ericsson Xperia X2.

There has today been increased discussion over the possibility as to whether Sony will be officially announcing this tomorrow at ComminicAsia 2009.

Apparently, the Swedish-Japanese company has sent out a range of invitations for the event that declare: ‘Join Sony Ericsson as we take you on a journey where mystery, magic and entertainment fuse seamlessly with cutting-edge technology. Sony Ericsson gives a glimpse of what the future holds. This is not just entertainment. It’s entertainment unlimited.’ SOURCE: MOBILE CHOICE

Much of this is simply rumour and it could be something quite different which takes place, but with more and more images, such as the below appearing on the web, then the rumours could have some serious credibility.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 was a fantastic product and has had many fans, as well as critics.  At the time, there were discussions that this would be the only Xperia model Sony would do.  Between its launch late last year and now, there have been ever increasing speculation that an X2 was on the cards.  Information and images leaked over the last week have given the greatest indication to date that there may actually be another unit on the way.
