Back in September, it was rumoured that all 2011 Sony Ericsson Xperia devices would be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich. A Sony Ericsson representative told SoMobile that an announcement regarding the updates would be made in ‘October or November’ and this is now ringing true. A statement on the Sony Ericsson Product Blog today confirms that the following handsets will be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich:
Xperia™ arc and arc S,
Xperia™ PLAY,
Xperia™ neo and neo V,
Xperia™ mini and mini pro,
Xperia™ pro,
Xperia™ active,
Xperia™ ray
Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman™
As of yet a timeframe for the updates has not been specified, but the Sony blog tells us that ‘more detailed information regarding this upgrade, timing and global availability will be communicated in due course here on the blog.’

It looks like Sony Ericsson’s new flagship device will be known as the Sony Ericsson Arc HD, aka the Nozomi. A couple of photos of Sony’s first dual-core device have emerged, as well as a Quadrant benchmark. The specs that are expected for the Arc HD include a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4.3” 1280 x 720 display and 1GB RAM. As has been the case with Sony’s 2011 Arc Range, it looks like the Arc HD will come with a rather sleek form factor. The leaked handset that has been pictured over the web is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but given the rate at which Sony has kept its handsets updated this year, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if the Arc HD is running Ice Cream Sandwich by the time it’s released.

The price of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has come down by £30 – for one week only, making it £245 (£294 inc. VAT). This is a good deal for anyone looking for a decent Android smartphone, especially after Sony Ericsson confirmed yesterday that its 2011 Xperia range would receive an update to Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

We have listed the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S on our site today.
You may have seen the announcement over the last 24 hours that Sony Ericsson have launched this new model. The Arc S is essentially an upgraded Xperia Arc, like the Defy + is an upgraded Motorola Defy.
There are a few small, yet important improvements which may be worth holding off for if you were looking at the original Xperia Arc.
Still on the device is the 8.1 megapixel camera, Google Android operating system, HDMI out, microUSB port, 4.2” reality display and 3.5mm audio jack to name just a few features.
Official pricing has yet to be confirmed, as has the colour variant that we will be stocking, but the good news is that the Arc S is due by the end of September, even as early as the 26th.
We will bring you more news as we have it, but you can register your interest HERE if you wish.
