Samsung Galaxy S 2 Ice Cream Sandwich Update Coming March 15th?

According to Android Central, Samsung Israel has let slip that the SGS2 Ice Cream Sandwich update will begin rolling out on March 15th. The translated post detailing availability has since been removed, but read along the lines of:

We promised we were working on it. You waited patiently. And on 15 March it’ll arrive: Android version 4, ICS, to tens of thousands of GALAXY S II devices purchased from cellular companies in the country or directly from us. We are very excited for the launch, hope you are too :)

This is good news for owners of SIM-free Samsung Galaxy S II handsets who could receive the update well before the end of the month. We’ll keep you updated with any more news on Samsung’s best-selling device.

SGS2 Ice Cream Sandwich Update Confirmed For UK

Samsung has confirmed via a tweet that the Samsung Galaxy S 2 will be updated to Android ICS in the UK. Although an update for the SGS2 had already been confirmed for Europe, Twitter users had pressured the Korean manufacturer to confirm that the update would apply to the UK as well. As of yet a timeframe for the update has not been specified, but sometime in Q1 of 2012 would probably be a reasonable estimate.

Samsung: SGS2, Note & Tabs To Get Ice Cream Sandwich

Samsung has confirmed that the following devices will receive updates to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It should be noted that these are not the only handsets from Samsung that will be updated, but are the only ones that have been confirmed so far. As of yet an ETA for the updates has not yet confirmed, but early 2012 would probably be a reasonable prediction. So far the list includes:

Is the Samsung Galaxy Note faster than the SGS2?

                  Samsung Galaxy Note

We’re getting a lot of interest here at Clove technology with regard to the Samsung Galaxy Note; not surprising after the results of a Quadrant test revealed that it is in fact faster than its compatriot – the Samsung Galaxy S II. The Note scored an impressive 3,624 compared to that of the Samsung galaxy S II 3,152, this would make the Galaxy Note one of or if not the fastest Smartphone out there.

The Samsung Galaxy Note features a dual core 1.4 GHz processor, looking at these results it would indicate that it possesses one of the fastest processors we have seen so far. Boasting a 5.3 inch super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels whilst running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread – this has all the makings to be another big seller from Samsung.

Below is a hands on demonstration video of the Galaxy Note showing just how quick the device is from a Greek site named Techblog

Samsung Galaxy S II US Teaser Video

This is probably the best promotional video I’ve seen from Samsung recently, especially for the SGS2. Some of the previous videos it released weren’t anything to shout about (the one with the gold fish bowl, for example), but this one’s clever and will make you chuckle a bit. It’s to promote the imminent release of the Samsung Galaxy S II in the US.

Samsung Galaxy S 2 In Space

Samsung has this afternoon launched a Samsung Galaxy S 2 into space. The SGS2 handset was taken up in a ‘Space Balloon’, with a live video showing tweets to the SGS2 via UStream. The video connection was a little bit patchy, although we did manage to log on briefly to see it in action. Unfortunately we didn’t see our tweet pop up on the screen!

New Samsung WP7 handset to be based on SGS2?

It looks like Samsung may be planning to apply the success it has experienced with its Galaxy S Android range to a new Windows Phone 7 handset. Samsung’s been doing a lot of work over the last year on its Android portfolio, but not so much on Windows Phone 7. The Omnia 7 was an OK handset, but it doesn’t come close to the blockbuster handset that is the Samsung Galaxy S II.

The handset seen in the images below was recently shown off by Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President Steve Guggenheimer. Not much is given away as the photos have been taken at a distance, but GSMArena speculates that it could be the rumoured Samsung i937, based on the design of the Galaxy S II.

We can expect a range of new Windows Phone 7 devices to be available towards the end of the year with HTC, LG, Acer, ZTE and Fujitsu all tipped to have handsets in the making.
