Samsung bringing TecTile NFC tags–Compete with Sony Xperia SmartTags

Samsung are set to compete with Sony’s Xperia SmartTags with TecTiles according to a leaked video.

The TecTile will just like a SmartTag when scanned by devices such as the Galaxy S III (NFC must be switched on) will change the settings of your phone based on the pre-configured settings for each tag.

NFC tags are readily available and the tech savvy can pick these up now and configure them easily, but the Sony and Samsung tags along with associate apps make NFC a bit more mainstream and easier to get to grips with.

Samsung Galaxy S III ‘Leaked Invite’–Is it real?

Yet another ‘leak’ has been made regarding the Samsung Galaxy S III – this one suggesting it will be unveiled at an event in London on May 22nd. However, we’re not convinced by this latest link, as Shaun McGill points out on Lost In Mobile:

The image of the phone looks stunning, it really does, but I am far from convinced that this is real. Firstly, 22nd May is a long time off and ‘London, United Kingdom’ seems like a strange way to phrase what should be ‘London, England’. Also, ‘New Generation Coming’ is not exactly good English.

I might also add that ‘Vivid.Fast.Slim’ was the tag line that Samsung used for the SGSII, so going with the slightly rearranged ‘Fast.Vivid.Slim’ for its successor seems unlikely.

Samsung confirms the SGS3, but will not launch it at MWC 2012

Samsung has this morning confirmed that it will not be announcing the Samsung Galaxy S III at Mobile World Congress 2012. The rumours have been rife over the last couple of weeks as to when it will be launched and with what spec, so Samsung has now issued an official statement to clarify the situation:

Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012.

“The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.

This will no doubt come as disappointing news for some, but at least it does confirm that the SGS3 is on its way. We’ll keep you updated with any more official news from the Samsung camp.

Samsung Galaxy S III Specs Leaked

Samsung_Galaxy_S_III

Supposed specs for the Samsung Galaxy S III have emerged thanks to an anonymous user from forum 4chan. Of course, these are unconfirmed and need to be taken with a pinch of salt, although last time we spoke to Samsung we were told that they had some game-changing technology planned for next year, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising if it did have something like a quad-core processor on the way. As it stands, any official confirmation is a way off yet with Samsung expected to make an official announcement at Mobile World Congress 2012, as it did with the SGS2. These are the specs that have been leaked so far, which the anonymous 4chan user claims to have heard Samsung reps talking about and seen on slides:

  • Quad-core 2.0GHz processor.
  • 1.5GB RAM, expandable memory with 32GB built-in.

  • 4.65-inch Super AMOLED III display developed specially for the SGS3  with 1280 x 1024 resolution and a pixel density of 352-PPI, the highest on a smartphone so far.

  • 10 megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p videos at 60fps.

  • Metal body with 9mm thickness and a 2,250mAh battery.

  • Built-in NFC.

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with TouchWiz 5.0

We’ll be keeping a close eye on any developments that do emerge, no doubt the SGS3 will raise the bar in smartphone tech just as the SGS2 did.

Samsung Galaxy S III (GT-I9200)??

Samsung has confirmed that it is already working on the Samsung Galaxy S III.  Yes the Galaxy S II has only just arrived, but Samsung are looking to the future already.

Don’t get too excited, or annoyed at the fact you have only just bought the Galaxy S II – it won’t be until 2012 until we potentially see the Galaxy III.

J.K.Shin, the president of Samsung’s mobile communications division told the Dow Jones newswire, “Samsung may launch a third version of its Galaxy S smartphone in the first half of next year after launching a second-generation version called Galaxy S II last month.”

Honestly this does not comes as a surprise, seeing as the Galaxy is popular range of devices, Samsung always need to be looking to the next thing, but probably what does come as a surprise is the honesty so far in advance.
