If you work in the trades, things such as smartphones and iPhones are probably not the most common site, but if they are seen we would image they are wrapped in protective shells to stop them becoming victim to damage and costly repairs.

Get a Motorola DEFY+ with a 24 month warranty instead of 12

The Motorola DEFY+ is a great value handset that is designed to live up to the perils of life.  It can withstand knocks, bumps, being dropped, getting wet and more.

However one of the small downsides to this device is the fact that it has only a 12 month warranty.

Well there is a way to get a 24 month warranty if your willing to spend about £20 more (£1.60 per month for another 12 months warranty).

The solution, buy a JCB Edition Motorola DEFY+.

It is exactly the same as the Motorola DEFY + but comes with:

From early December you will be able to get your hands on a slightly different version of the Motorola DEFY+, the JCB Edition.

JCB have had a range of mobile phones for some time now (available here) but the DEFY+ JCB edition is the first one to be a smartphone, something that many people want.

Who is it designed for?

It is aimed more at the builders/tradesmen who want a smartphone that can really live up to their lifestyle.  JCB is often affiliated with building/construction sites.

However it is also suitable for anyone from any walk of life who wants to take the protection of their phone a bit further because they need it and want it all in one package not having the hassle of looking for a suitable case.

What is different?

Well it is exactly the same as the Motorola DEFY Plus in terms of hardware but you do get:

  • 24 month (2 year) warranty as opposed to the standard 12 month (1 year) Motorola warranty.
  • Exclusive JCB branded skin with shock absorption, designed specifically for the DEFY

Why would I want this?

Most would not, the DEFY+ is rugged enough but if you work in harsh environments where the device is more prone to being knocked and dropped then the addition of a shock absorbing case in the box may be an advantage.

Is it more expensive?

Yes, it is about £20 more expensive but it covers the cost of the case, the app and the additional 12 months warranty you get.

I want the 24 month warranty, can I remove the JCB elements?

Yes.  JCB branding is on the packaging, the case and on the app.  The packaging is for sale and shipping purposes, the case can be removed and the app can be deleted.  This way, although you pay a little more for the phone, you still get the 24 month warranty.
