Huawei Ascend P1 now just £225 + VAT

We’ve just dropped the price of the Huawei Ascend P1 to just £225 (£270 including VAT). This is a great price for a beautifully designed handset that offers a form factor not that dissimilar to the new iPhone 5.

Two of the stand out features promoted for the iPhone 5 are how light and slim it is. The P1 is slightly lighter – 110g compared to 112g – and almost as thin – 7.69mm to 7.6mm. It is slightly larger than the iPhone 5, measuring roughly half a centimetre extra in length and width, but still feels great in the hand.

Huawei MediaPad 10 Promotional Video

The MediaPad 10 is due for release next month, so Huawei has released this epic-sounding promotional video to promote its latest Android tablet. With the MediaPad 10 comes a rather impressive spec sheet, which includes a whopping 1920 x 1200 IPS display. It also runs ICS out of the box and is just 8.8mm in thickness. We’ll get our thoughts posted as soon as we’ve had some hands on time with one.

Wireless Network Range Extender–Huawei WS320–Simple & easy to use

A simple to use wireless network range extender.

We have all had instances be it in our own home, office or a friend’s house where we have connected to the WiFi, moved to another room and the WiFi signal has dropped off and there is no connection.  It is quite annoying isn’t it?!

Well normal solutions are:

1. Put up with it

2. Buy a more powerful router

3. Buy a range extender

So point 2 & 3 are the best solutions can be costly and extremely complicated to buy and then setup.

Therefore if all you needed to do was to plug an adapter into a mains socket, press a button and wait a couple of minutes this would make things a lot simpler.

The WS320 WiFi/Wireless Range Extender from Huawei does just this.

A convenient product that connects to a 3 pin UK mains power supply and will boost the range of your wireless network.

Add more to increase the range further or disconnect to reduce the signal range. Use at home, work or wherever you choose.

Huawei Honour Review

The Huawei Honour is a smartphone that has been talked about for some time, but very few factual details have come to light. When I received it, I knew absolutely nothing about it- I had no idea of the price, the version of Android or even what it looked like so I will write this review on the basis of ignorance and then put it all into context later on.

This is an unusual phone in the most usual of ways. It looks like many Android phones from a year back and appears, at first glance, to have very little emphasis placed on the design. The front is merely a screen with four virtual buttons at the bottom and that’s about it. Angular edges and rounded corner curves make it look completely standard in every way. The power button is on the top left which is useful for left-handed people and the volume buttons are also on the left with no dedicated camera button on the right.

Huawei– Don’t be fooled by the price

I posted an article last week that explained how I thought that Huawei have it in them to become a serious player within the smartphone world.

In the article I explained how the Ascend G300 is one of the first in what will be a long line of Huawei products that offers a specification and a performance without a huge price tag.

Whilst Huawei will follow with higher prices on their higher end devices their aim will still be to offer better value.

Huawei Smartphones–The one to watch

File:Huawei.svg

Huawei (pronounced wa-way) is a company you may or may not have heard of.  You would be excused for not having heard of them as they are relatively unknown in the UK, but in fact you interact very regularly with their products and services, you just don’t know it.

A Chinese company, they are big, very big in fact and employ approximately 141,000 people globally.

So what do they do.  There company is split into different divisions but fundamentally they build communication devices from cellular network towers (routing you mobile phone calls) to WiFi routers, set-top boxed, 3G dongles and smartphones.
