HTC devices getting Ice Cream Sandwich this summer

HTC to update back catalogue of devices to ICS within Q3

HTC has published an approximate schedule as to when its devices will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich; most are due between June and July. Some handsets such as the Sensation/XE have already had their updates start rolling out.

Currently the HTC One series handsets are the only ones that run 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, although the HTC Desire C is due to join them in just over a week.

PYD__LE_3Views_Beats

We now have the HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio White available to order. Stock is due to arrive the week commencing 20th February, priced at £340 (£408).

We’ve seen a few handsets announced in a white variant recently and the XE looks like it could have the slickest appearance of the lot. Coupled with the news that the Sensation XE will likely be upgraded to ICS within the next couple of months, this is certainly a device worth considering if you’re out for a new handset anytime soon.  The features are the same as its Black counterpart, but here’s a look at what the Sensation XE has to offer:

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • 1.5GHz processor
  • 4.3″ QHD Super LCD capacitive touch screen
  • 8MP camera, dual LED flash and VGA front camera

HTC Sensation and Sensation XE ICS Update Coming Soon?

image

A couple of posts this morning have uncovered that the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE could be here very soon indeed. A Eurodroid post points out that a Dutch Press release has announced that an HTC Sensation with Android 4.0 (ICS) on board will be ready to launch by March 1st. This means that the Ice Cream Sandwich update should be ready ‘any day now’ for the Sensations that are already out in the wild.

Another post over at Android Community shows a tweet from HTC saying that ‘ICS will be coming to the Sensation XE early this year’, so hopefully it won’t be too long before we see the update rolled out to both devices.
