Samsung tease Nexus Prime ahead of announcement

On the heels of Apple’s somewhat disappointing iPhone 4S announcement Samsung chose to release this little video teasing the Nexus Prime:

If you view it in 1080p and pause playback in the few moments where the phone is revealed you can see a very appealing design, retaining the curved screen of the Nexus S, but improving on its looks with a slimmer waistline. You can also see three little keys where a camera shutter key would usually reside – let the speculation as to their purpose begin!

Does seeing this make you want a Nexus Prime if you didn’t already? If you were waiting for an iOS-powered handset to upgrade to from your current iPhone 4, does this make you look toward Android?

BREAKING NEWS: HTC confirm plans to unlock Sensation bootloaders

So HTC announced the news a number of us have been waiting for today, a solid confirmation of their plan to unlock bootloaders, and even an initial timeframe for its rollout.

Just like the rest of us HTC elected to inform everyone they know via Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/notes/htc/update-on-bootloaders/10150305151453084

Once this happens the devs at XDA can get cracking, and we’ll finally get to see just how much its promising hardware can really deliver.

Great news, and kudos to HTC for listening to consumers.

Now they just need to take the next step, and actually make it possible for owners to easily Root their handsets straight out of the box too…

[UPDATE] BREAKING NEWS: Galaxy SII firmware update – Android OS version 2.3.4!

Well, the update that Galaxy SII owners have been waiting for is here – you can now take your phone to Android 2.3.4 and enjoy all the benefits it has to offer. This isn’t the official version, but initial reports are extremely favourable – it fixes the Android OS bug, the lockscreen waketime bug, and adds Google Video Chat too. Its very early days though, with only a handful of people reporting back their findings on the firmware so far. If you want to no more follow this link at XDA-develpers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159946

I’m currently downloading the firmware to flash with Odin, and will update this with my own impressions later on.

Enjoy!

UPDATE: Been playing for a few hours now, so far everything seems fine, below are some of the things that other users and myself have noticed -

Camera – no shutter sound in silent mode now (Tasker users can therefore effectively remove the shutter sound altogether, without needing any hacks or mods), can take pictures beneath 15% battery (without flash at any rate), I haven’t had a chance yet to see whether the pink spot is completely gone

Screen wake delay – mixed reports, for me its improved, but not always instant

Android OS battery usage seems significantly less a factor

Google Video Chat indeed present and working, furthermore native Android SIP is now present in settings

Few new apps in the Samsung apps area, I note now that the new games aren’t full versions like most of the others, but trials

Nothing has changed in the games hub, although Gameloft did release Starfront Collision and Dungeon Hunter 2 HD for the SGSII in the last few days if you missed it

Music players still cannot read genre tags properly, FLAC tags are also still read incorrectly
