LG V40 ThinQ: Frequently Asked Questions
The LG V40 ThinQ is the first smartphone to come with a whopping five cameras; three on the rear and a dual-lens setup on the front. Now, we’ve been lucky enough to have spent some quality time with the device and have been mightily impressed.
Since our review video, we’ve been inundated with questions about LG’s flagship device, so we’ve endeavoured to answer some of your most pressing queries.
#1: When is the LG V40 ThinQ coming out?
The LG V40 ThinQ was unveiled at the beginning of October by LG at their launch event in New York. At this event, LG announced that the V40 would be available in the US in the middle of October and subsequently, the device has received much praise.
Unfortunately, LG did not reveal any plans to officially release the device in the UK, however Clove have become one of few UK distributors to sell the V40 ThinQ as new. Stock will be available early in January so head on over to our website to register your interest.
#2: Where can I buy the LG V40 ThinQ?

#3: Is the LG V40 ThinQ water resistant?
The LG V40 ThinQ comes fitted with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance which is the highest level of protection that a smartphone device can offer.
The ‘8’ rating refers to protection against moisture and means that the device is suitable for continuous immersion in water under conditions specified by the manufacturer. In this case, LG claim that the V40 is water resistant in depths of up 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.
Alongside this, the front, back and camera of the device have been coated in Gorilla Glass 5 which offers an extra layer of protection.
Now, we wouldn’t advise taking your V40 ThinQ for a swim, but you should be covered in any small emergency situations!
#4: Is the LG V40 ThinQ Dual SIM?
The LG V40 ThinQ is available both as Dual SIM and Single SIM variants.
The dual SIM variant of the device holds two nano-SIM cards however the second SIM tray is a hybrid slot. This means that whilst it can hold a second SIM, it can also be used to expand the storage with a memory card. Now, with the LG V40 ThinQ, a memory card of up to 512GB can be supported, which should be more than sufficient for the average user.
#5: Does the LG V40 ThinQ have wireless charging?
Following in the footsteps of a plethora of flagship devices before it, the LG V40 ThinQ supports wireless charging.
Unfortunately, the device doesn’t come with a Wireless Charger packaged in the box, however, supports a maximum power of 10W, or what is considered as ‘Fast Wireless Charging’.
A number of Qi wireless chargers are currently available, so you shouldn’t have any problems finding a suitable product.
Alongside this, the LG V40 ThinQ supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0, however the charger that is supplied in the box is a Quick Charge 3.0 adapter.
#6: Does the LG V40 ThinQ have a headphone jack?
Much to the frustration of many, the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack has been a very common sight on flagship devices this year.
But sigh no more! The LG V40 ThinQ comes fitted with that nifty port!
LG have focussed heavily upon providing top of the range audio to the device and so why not make it easy to enjoy?
Indeed, the V40 comes with a quad DAC system which essentially works by converting digital music into an analogue signal, allowing it to be amplified (either by speakers or your headphones) without becoming victim to digital distortion.
#7: Does the LG V40 ThinQ have a notch?
Housing the dual front camera setup, the LG V40 ThinQ does come with a small notch.
It isn’t particularly tall or wide, however is definitely noticeable when first viewing the display.
The sides of the notch can be blackened out in the phone’s settings, making it look as though it weren’t there, and the software is more impressive than some other flagship devices that we have tested. Similarly, you can amend the notch settings so that the sides can be a variety of colours, transitioning into red or silver, as well as rainbow.
The LG V40 ThinQ will be available from Clove in January 2019 in both the Aurora Black and Moroccan Blue variants. The device comes with 64GB of internal memory and 6GB RAM so head on over to our website to create an email notification for when stock becomes available.
