October has been quite the month for smartphone enthusiasts.

Before you’ve even had a moment to catch your breath, Huawei has dazzled us with the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro at their launch event in London.

After the success of the P20 Pro – did you know that Huawei recently overtook Apple to become the world’s second-biggest smartphone seller? – the hype has been undeniable, so we’ve endeavoured to answer some of your most pressing questions now that the devices have been unveiled.

#1: When is the Huawei Mate 20 Released?

The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro were officially unveiled by Huawei at their launch event in London today, whilst the Mate 20 Lite has already been released in the UK.

The first stock of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be shipping from Clove on October 26th.

As always, we will keep our website updated with all the important information and get those orders shipped out to you as soon as possible.

#2: Where Can You Buy Huawei Mate 20?

Currently, the only device in the Mate 20 range in stock in the UK is the Mate 20 Lite.

You can buy the Mate 20 Lite from Clove Technology as a Single or Dual SIM variant in either Black or Sapphire Blue.

If you want the Mate 20 Pro, head over to our website and pre-order your device now. We have the stunning device available to order now in Black. Twilight and Emerald Green are due to be available at a later date.

#3: Does Huawei Mate 20 Have Dual SIM?

The Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro both came with Single and Dual SIM options, as does the Mate 20 Lite, and so it is of little surprise that the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro do too.

As always, both variants will be available from Clove Technology. At launch the UK model will be Single SIM; we’ll get hold of European Dual SIM phones later.

Keep an eye out for the ‘DUAL SIM’ description accompanying a device – if there isn’t a SIM description then assume that the variant is a Single SIM option.

#4: Does Huawei Mate 20 Pro Have Wireless Charging?

Prior to today, the only Huawei device to support wireless charging was the Mate RS Porsche Design. Somewhat surprisingly, not even the P20 Pro or Mate 20 Lite came with this feature!

However, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will break from trend and will support the ‘World’s Fastest’ 15W Wireless Charge!

Not only this, but the Mate 20 Pro offers the world’s first Wireless Reverse Charging, in which you can use your device’s battery to charge another phone or accessory. Now that’s really quite impressive!

#5: Does Huawei Mate 20 Have A Notch?

It’s a big one for many, however, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will both come will that infamous notch.

That said, the standard Mate 20 model will come with a small ‘waterdrop’ style notch that isn’t hugely noticeable and to many, may even be quite tasteful.

When the jump to the Mate 20 Pro is made, the notch size is increased to house the impressive facial recognition software that the Mate 20 lacks.

#6: What Is the Camera Setup On Huawei Mate 20?

With the Mate 10, Huawei created a device with a very respectable camera setup. Then, with the P20 Pro, Huawei became industry leaders.

As such, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will follow in the footsteps of the P20 Pro and offer a Leica triple-lens camera with a Leica Ultra Wide-Angle Lens powered by AI.

The 40MP, 20MP and 8MP lens on the Mate 20 Pro and 16MP, 12MP and 8MP on the Mate 20 – alongside a flash – will be arranged in a unique square shape… so many sensors they don’t know what to do with them!

#7: Is Huawei Mate 20 Waterproof?

As with many flagship devices before it, both the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro come with a top-of-the-class IP68 rating.

An IP code refers to the protection that an object provides against external objects. The first number, in this case 6, describes the level of protection against solids such as dirt.

The second number – 8 – refers to protection against moisture. This 8 awarded means a device is ‘protected from immersion in water with a depth of more than 1 meter’.

Whilst we wouldn’t advise taking your Mate 20 along with you for a swim, this is the highest rating that can be awarded to a smartphone device.
