Honor 7A Due 1st Week of May
In the past few years, Honor has fast become the king of budget smartphones. They regularly deliver well-built handsets which push the boundaries of specifications at their respective price points.
Honor 7A is due in stock at Clove in the first week of May for £139.50 (£116.25 ex-VAT). Black will be available at launch with Blue at a later date
It’s OK not to expect too much from a sub £150 handset, although when you see an Honor badge, you expect at least one specification to shout at you. The most eye-catching draw of the 7A is the 18:9 ratio screen. Last year’s trend at the high-end, there have been few budget devices that have stretched to this form factor.
Other features are fairly standard; the tried and tested Snapdragon 430 powers the phone for one. The main 13MP camera is unremarkable, although still a great shooter for the price.
Honor have engaged in some wizardry for the selfie camera though. 8MP is high for a budget phone, but they haven’t stopped there; you’ll also find an adjustable LED flash for better low light selfies, plus a true face-unlock feature.
There’re also some audio enhancements. Honor claim the main speaker is “200%” louder than a conventional smartphone (whatever that means). The specification sheet tells me it tops out at 88dB (loud) and has dedicated software processing.
Honor’s design language remains true – the phone is all rounded edges with a glossy, highly reflective finish. As a final bonus, the UK model is Dual SIM with a 3rd slot for Micro SD.
