We recently introduced the whole Philips Hue range to Clove Technology.
Smart home products may look like a challenge, however much of the heavy lifting has already been done by the manufacturer. A great example of this are the Philips Hue bulbs.
You do require a central Hue Bridge unit to control them all, yet this can be installed within a matter of minutes. The companion app is there to guide you through the process with ease.
Lighting is an excellent starting point for those interested in the smart home. Not only is it something we interact with daily, you can also introduce some very pleasing effects with a low initial cost.

Philips Hue Bulbs
There are currently 3 main bulbs types available. The bulbs are generally available as E27, B22 or GU10 options. The Striplights can be cut to size and require a Hue Bridge to operate.
Philips’ White & Colour bulbs are top of the range. Each bulb is available in three options: E27 screw, B22 bayonet or GU10 spotlight.
Each bulb is completely dimmable, down to 5% of the maximum brightness. The Hue companion app can control dimming or you can install a wireless dimmer.
The colour profile offers the potential for 16 million discrete colours.
The mid-range available in the Philips Hue family, White Ambiance is a wireless dimmable bulb.
Just like the colour bulbs above, all 3 fittings are catered for. With these ambiance units, you also have further dimming control down to just 1%.
There are an incredible 50,000 shades to cycle through, across warm and cool light temperatures.
This is the basic remote control bulb from Philips.
Available as E27 or B22 (no spot option), these are long-life and highly efficient additions to any connected home set up.
Using the Hue Bridge and companion app, you can set lights to remotely turn off or on at any time of day.
Just like the rest of Philips kit, you will need a Hue Bridge to operate the Lightstrips.
Lightstrips are designed to be purchased a 2 metre strip which contains the mains power plugs.
You can then connect additional 1 metre extensions to a maximum of 10 metres, and terminate a strip at any point within 33cm increments.
Aside from the flat format, Lightstrips offer the same colour profile as Colour Ambiance bubs or Philips’ range of lamps.
