The S4 mini has an 8 megapixel camera and a 1.9 megapixel front facing camera.  What results can you expect from these.

We put them to the test and the results are as follows (click to enlarge).

    • From my testing the actual final performance is very similar.
Personally though I prefer Samsung’s camera application, it’s easier to change the settings and use in general

      • Thanks for the quick reply. Here some more questions:
        * the pixel density of the s4 mini is 256 ppi and the htc is 217ppi, is it a big difference?
        * Do you also know if the S4 mini (example: 8 MP camera) is a big improvement in comparison with the samsung S3 mini (5MP)?
*Is android 4.2 much better than 4.1?

The difference between S4mini & S3 mini and HTC desire 500 is 150 EUR, so I wanna know if the S4 is worth it. I’m going to buy a smartphone this week. I don’t need it for video’s, gaming,.. . I need one for quick email checking, internet, social networks and a good camera 🙂 .

Would it be a good choice to choose the S4 mini because the adroid 4.2, better battery,.. or do you think the S3mini or htc are good enough for my use?

        • Hi again, it’s a tough call although for use I reckon the cheaper HTC would be the best option for you. Steer clear of the S3 Mini now, it is an older generation and the HTC outstrips it in every way.
The camera jump from 5 to 8 is significant, also both the HTC and S4 Mini use new image processors too which take much richer images than last year’s S3 Mini.
The screen resolution is likely not to affect you too much when browsing, it is noticeable when looking at high quality images but for emails, messaging and general browsing is negligible.
I think you will be very pleased with the Desire 500, it’s not perfect but I was certainly impressed considering the price – I have a review up here: http://blog.clove.co.uk/2013/09/13/htc-desire-500-review/
