The Xperia Z uses the original MHL adapter that the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Note used and not the newer adapter used by the S3 and Note 2.

Output at 1080 I do believe to be correct. Yes there was a bit of juddering, but I think this may have been due to this being pre-production so wouldn’t be too concerned.
