Otterbox has become one of the leading case manufacturers in the smartphone industry, producing a diverse range of cases that vary from lightweight protection to sturdy, heavy-duty solutions that protect a handset from the heftiest of knocks.

This year at CES, Otterbox has demonstrated a new case line that takes smartphone protection to a whole new level. The Armor series offers Otterbox’s toughest protection to date – it’s waterproof, dust proof, drop proof and crush proof. This does of course mean that the case will add substantial bulk to the handset, but if you work in an environment where keeping dust well and truly clear of the handset is more important than its size, the Armor series is definitely a winner.

Otterbox told SlashGear at CES  that the Armor series is ‘drop proof from up to 10 feet and it can withstand up to 2 tons of pressure and is completely dust proof’. It’s safe to say that once your case is enclosed within one of these, it’ll take some doing for it to be damaged.

Initially the Armor series will be available for iPhone 4/4s, iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy SIII, retailing at around $99. It’s expected for release in the US towards the end of February. We’ll follow up with Otterbox to provide UK pricing once its available.
