ZTE has today mentioned at a conference in Italy that it will launch a Windows Phone in Q1 2013, Windows Phone Central reports. The confirmation came as a response to a question that was posed at the conference, so there are no further details and no official announcement has yet been made.
The Chinese manufacturer, which has so far made a name for itself with Android devices, has recently come under fire in the US along with Huawei, being deemed a threat to national security. A foray into Windows Phone 8 to broaden its smartphone horizons does make sense for ZTE, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out which regions said handsets will be available in and if the US will be included.
