Speaking to Fox Business Network Meg Whitman HP’s chief executive has confirmed that they are working on a smartphone product.
She said “We have to ultimately offer a smartphone because in many countries of the world that would be your first computing device… We are a computing company we have to take advantage of that form factor.”
Recognizing the failures with the previous HP Pre 3, where it received little support and uptake, she indicated that the project had to be better and right rather than faster to market.
There was no indication which operating system the product will potentially use. It is however likely that it will be Windows Phone 8, or Android.
In the future you should be able to purchase a HP smartphone and remember when we all had HP iPAQ PDAs.
