Samsung is currently running an offer to give UK customers £50 cashback when purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), or £30 cashback when purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0). The offer runs until 30th September 2012 and claims can be submitted here from 30th August onwards. If you place an order with us, the invoice that we provide is used for the cashback claim.
The offer on the Tab 2 (7.0) brings the 8GB version down to under £200, which is a great price considering what the tablet has to offer. It also brings the Tab 2 (10.1) WiFi below £300 which is a great price for a 10-inch tablet of this quality.
I bought the samsung tab2 10.1 from curry there didn’t give information how to claim the £50 cash back i spend hours to search online, why there promote the cashback and not giving good service??
and i still can’t find how to claim my cashback?/
Bought my SAMSUNG TAB2 from Currys Bishopbriggs on 29/10/12. They said it would be a simple matter to claim my £50.00 cash back. How do I go about this?
Robert,
Your problem might have been that you were looking for a Curry’s website for the cashback claim details. Try going to the following Samsung (not Curry’s) website, to make your claim: http://www.samsung.com/uk/tab2cashback
Good luck.
how do you the claim £50 pound cash back?
Cannot manage to claim cashback on 10 inch Galacy2 10 inch tab
To claim your cashback on qualifying products, try this link.
I hope this is of help to you.

I purchased a 10.1 Samsung Tab 2 from John Lewis plc in October and was told to wait a couple of weeks and then I could apply online for my £50 cashback but cannot find any details. can you e-mail me the form please….thanks
Check this out for it: http://www.samsung.com/uk/tab2cashback/?pid=uk_promotion_home_banner7_tab2promo_20120802
Hey.. I bought galaxt tab 2 10.1 and I got a delivery note with the package, but it s mentioned that delivery note is not accepted as a purchase proof. Do u have any idea how to validate the cashback ??
Thanx
I purchased mine on October 27. Yesterday began online form but it refused the numbers of my model number so did not complete for me. Its a swindle! Tried again today and the form now says offer ended 30 Sept. In the margin a book is advertised called ‘How To Make Small Claims’ They are all having a laugh at our expense. The offer ends Dec 2012 according to yesterdays form.
I bought a tab 2 but when I try to apply for cash back it is looking for a model number followed by a series of letters in various combinations….I have only been able to find the model number but have no idea how to find which letters to chose…..Can you tell me where to find this info???
I got the model of my galaxy tab from the bar code of the device , you can do that by using any bar code reader application.
I have applied for cashback on GT-P5110 tabs (two of them) but on trying to track my order, it asks for an ID NUMBER. I haven’t yet received a confirmation email from Samsung, so where am I supposed to find my ID NUMBER to trace my cashback please?
I am also trying to track my claim, but I have not received any email to confirm so no claim ID yet.
On Samsung website:
“Once the claim has been submitted online, you will receive email confirmation of receipt.”
I didn’t get this but I did ring them and they said an email had been sent 4 days earlier. They said that it may be in your ‘junk mail’ in which I told them it wasn’t. They then ‘resent’ the email in which I have now received. Phew! I now have a tracking number.
Hi i received an email right away as soon as i had submitted my application this email contains your ID Number however at this stage my application is still in the pending vallidation stage, i guess from other comments i believe it has to go to the “validated” stage then they pay you in approx 45days ~ i kow alot of people have been having a nightmare with their claims ~ good luck!!
has any body had problems up loading there reciept on to the site get to question 5 it asks me to scan and it wont do it ave been at this for 2 days i also phoned them and she told me to go to shop were a bought it they said it is nothing to do way them a cant believe how complicated this is to get ure money back
maybe you could get someone else to scan it for you and put it on a memory card.
I finally managed to submit my claim for Tab2 on Nov 13th after getting this reply from Samsung (after 3 frustrating e-mails);
“GT-P5110TSABTU is the 16GB Version, Titanium/Silver,
GT-P5110ZWABTU is the 16GB Version, White,
GT-P5110TSEBTU is the 32GB Version, Titanium/Silver,
GT-P5110ZWEBTU is the 32GB Version, White.”
I have since been told my claim has been declined as it was submitted outside the 30-45 day window (actually submitted on day 31). I tried ringing the helpline number. After queuing for 21mins, I got to position 1 and it hung up. Did this twice, it happened identically each time, so beware (@£6 per call!). Called Samsung but they can’t help as the claim is being dealt with by an external company. Have e-mailed them but no response.
I bought my tabs on the 8th and 9th November and did my claim online on the 15 – 60 day window,so did it on 25th November.
Samsung webpage:
“Samsung are now offering NEW Tablet offers on qualifying purchases made from 1st November 2012. Please note the claim period for all purchases of the Tablets from the NEW offers must be made within 15 – 60 days from the date of purchase.”
The confusing thing is, on their webpage it also says this:
“STEP 3
Online Claims: complete the online form; upload a copy of the receipt/invoice for your new Samsung purchase. We must receive your claim between 30 – 45 days from the purchase date on your receipt or invoice.”
Should I have done my online claim on day 15 – 60 or 30 – 45? If it is 30 – 45, can I redo the claim?
can any 1 please tell me how to claim my £50 cash back i bought the samsung galaxy tab from amazon on the 19th november but there is no were on that site to claim it back
Hi i have tried to claim my £50 cashback, when it asks me for my product individual serial number i put it in but it says it already has been used i have tried this over 20 times, sent at least 10 emails but no response at all, can anyone help please! David
hi…. the serial number you are entering is probably wrong! i had exact same problem till i realised you have to enter the set of numbers and letter that are in capitals above the long row of numbers
Just applied for my cash back but for some reason it said i’m only entitled to £40 i was told £50 in the shop so i don’t know whats going on? looks like i’ll have to phone the shop and see if i can get some answers.
Having checked with John Lewis store how to claim your cashback I”m told you have to go to http://www.samsung.com/uk/student/ and then carry on answering questions, depending on what you have bought.
Your purchase must have taken place after 24/10/20012.
For claims made online………..”Your application must be received on-line no sooner than 15 days and no later than 60 days from the date of your receipt/invoice. The date of purchase on the receipt counts as day 1″
For those who use a BT call package where 0845 numbers are free, you can call Opia Ltd, the company handling the cash back on 0845 051 5121. This is the general helpline number but the kind lady who answered (some delay in a queue) handled my request and validated my claim immediately. I now await payment within the 45 day deadline and receipt of my storage card!
Thanks Gordon!
Having tried twice to call their 0843 number (21 mins each call then they hung up), I rang the 0854 number, spoke to an advisor who looked into my rejected claim.
She agreed that it was valid and said “the validate and reject button are next to each other and the wrong one was probably pressed…”
My claim has now been validated and an e-mail received.
Result.
Tim
Glad to be able to help. I’d keep the number handy because I suspect that you may need it again to find out why the refund as not been paid within the stated 45 days (plus I think another 5 days to allow the banks to do their bit).
When my claim was validated the lady said they were “a couple of days behind”. I’m not really sure about this because I randomly checked other claim reference numbers, much smaller than my own, and found many with status pending.
It’s not strictly a scam but it’s contrary to all best practice on running promotions – giving a limited window to claim and hoping people will miss it and then finding spurious reasons for rejecting claims as well as making the telephone help difficult to access. Had to take a photo of my receipt as don’t have a scanner so no doubt it’ll be rejected even though the picture is perfectly legible. Have warned them in the feedback form that I’ll report them to Trading Standards, Watchdog as well as social media bad publicity if they reject the claim. Why not just run a proper promotion!!
Sophie
I sent a photo (JPEG format) and claim was validated. It states clearly in instructions that use of photo, in correct format, is acceptable.
I agree with you about the ethics of the promotion. It reflects badly on Samsung UK using a company such as Ipia Ltd to handle their promotions. From what I have read, such companies agree to fund the promotion for a fixed fee, paid by Samsung in this case. It is then obviously in their interest to minimise the number of successful claims. I believe that they also take out some form of insurance to cover any loss they make. Gambling of some sort?
I suppose the lesson for us all is to investigate who handles the promotion/reclaiming of the money before making the purchase.
Found these model numbers. Hope you all find them useful
GT-P5100ZWEBTU – Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) 32 GB – White
GT-P5100ZWABTU – Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) 16 GB – White
GT-P5100TSABTU – Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1 inch Tablet – Silver (16GB, 3G, Andriod 4.0)
I completed my form on 7 dec have still not heard anything, called today no record. I only called because I had read these comments. Got to re-submit today. The definitely don’t make it easy.
Has anybody actually received cashback?
I made the purchase on 18/11 and just submitted the form today. Has any one received their cash back yet?
I bought a Samsung galaxy tablet 2. On the 3rd of December 2012 and I was told that if I buy a case that cost 14.99 I will get my 50 pound cashback I usedvmy visa debit and it cost 158 pounds so I hope I will my 50 pound cashback I bought this tablet in currys
*** CLOVE UPDATE ***
As many of you may have purchased or received tablets over the Christmas period we will clarify the procedure which appears to have been causing issues for some
1. Your claim must be submitted between 15 – 60 days of purchase. That means you MUST wait 2 weeks before submitting the claim.
2. Visit this website: http://www.samsung.com/uk/tab2cashback/ and click on the “Claim Your Cashback Online” button
3. Click on the large button on the next page outlining the various offers
4. Agree to the terms and conditions on the following page and select the country of purchase
5. Tick all the boxes on the next page and select the exact date from the list as is printed on your receipt or invoice (if purchased from Clove, our dated invoice is valid). As stated on the page, despatch notes are NOT valid.
6. FULLY complete all of the remaining pages ensuring the details you provide match exactly with the information on your receipt / invoice and the device you are claiming. You should also make sure to select any tick boxes that you see.
7. You will need to upload a JPEG or PDF image of your receipt or invoice, no larger than 2MB
8. The address information you provide will need to match the account information provided for the cashback payment
I follwed the instructions precisley and the sent me this email . .
Thank you for applying for the Samsung Back To College offer.
However your claim is missing the following required documentation:
Please send a photo of the back of the tablet including the model and serial number
So we can process your claim please email help@samsungbacktocollege.com and attach the file containing the copy of your receipt or invoice to this email. Once you have done this please click the send button to complete the process. Please ensure you include the Claim Reference given above. Please contact one of our promotional support associates for further help if required.
I have also followed the instructions precisely. About two weeks ago I received that my claim had been validated. Yesterday I received the same email as you have received… i.e. that I must send them a photo of the back of the tablet showing the model and serial number. Never mind that the model and serial number were sent as part of the original claim. This is a new requirement and to my knowledge is not one that was part of the terms and conditions of the promotion.
I also had to provide this further proof.
i needed a 7mp camera to achieve a satisfactory image.
use macro ,close up mode ,in daylight. flash is useless as it reflects off the shiny surface.
to be fair to Samsung they have now approved my claim for payment.
i think you have 7 days to provide the relevant proof so make sure you do not wait too long.
good luck.
I got the same email from did as they asked nothing back so far
I too followed all procedures online and received an email saying the receipt was not readable and to forward another, which I have and had no reply, I hope they do not leave this pending until the deadline, as I have yet to hear of anyone receiving the cashback.I think we all need to get together and forward our complaints to watchdog, name and shame !!!
I have tried for ages now to register for my £30 cashback after purchasing my tab 2 Samsung and it appears that this offer was a con as it will not find the website that it advertises on! Please contact me to advise just how this can be done as it stipulated in the small print that you could only apply between day 15 and day 60 of your purchase, another con!
I wonder what website address you typed into your search engine? Try this ….
1. Enter the following address – http://www.samsung.com/uk/tab2cashback/ – into the Google search engine on your computer.
2. Select the first website from the displayed list, which (on my computer) reads: “Promotions – SAMSUNG UK. http://www.samsung.com/uk/tab2cashback/ Find out about exciting promotions. Archive. Samsung UK ” [That should take you onto the Cashback Claim website]
3. Select the Option “Claim Your Cashback Online”.
4. Follow online instructions through the Claim process.
NOTE: During the Claim process you may be asked to select a model number (such as “GT-P5110TSABTU” for your tablet, from a list. When you examine your tablet, and its box, you’ll probably only be able to find a somewhat shorter model number e.g. “GT-P5110″. I emailed the Samsung helpdesk [help@samsungbacktocollege.com] about this problem. They replied: “…select any of these 5110 options simply to allow your claim to proceed to the next stage. If this needs to be amended we can do so on your behalf at a later time”. So that’s what I did, and my Claim was validated a few days later! Good luck.
Clove would like to assure all customers that this is an official Samsung associated promotion. We have provided a link to the official Samsung portal to authorise and process your claims.
We are unable to comment on individual issues with claims, provide information pertaining to currently submitted claims, or advise assurance on completing new claims.
Clove would like to reiterate that all required documentation provided with eligible purchases was considered acceptable by the promotion terms and conditions upon original publishing
I have tried repeatedly to complete a claim form for cashback on galaxy tab. I can only get to step 7 of 10. There is then a delay before coming back as an error. Is anybody else having this problem. I bought 2 from Tesco. They are not interested saying it is a samsung promotion.
i managed to do all my claim and it’s been validated. I’m now awaiting payment. I too, bought 2 from Tesco, but as they said, “this is a samsung promotion” so it’s nothing to do with anyone else.
Maybe you should try and enter all your details on another computer etc as maybe there is something blocking it on your server or something.
the same is happening with me bought mine from tesco too !!
I have been trying all day to submit my claim. I get to the bank details page 7, then it just freezes!! Thought I had lost my broadband connection at first…..but after trying all this time I think there is something wrong with their server, as I am fully connected, as this post proves. Is any body else having the same problems. Any advice?
Yes, the same error has been happening since 28th December – crashing on step 7.
I left an email drawing their attention to this, and even rang them on their expensive no. and after 20 minites eventually got a dull non-committal response that there is an error on the online form – so why not put up an suitable message so users do not waste time until it’s fixed? She couldn’t say – “not my department”! And this from a global tech giant company!!
Good luck to us all!
Update: In my frustration at completing the online form, I tried to Skip This Step button at Step 7 basically to avoid giving the bank details online and low and behold the next day I received an email (entered in a previous step) that I can still provide the Step 7 details by following a secure link, which I did and entered the bank details which it accepted and then told me “we have updated our records” but then nothing else to do as it left me hanging – what happened to step 8, 9 and 10 then?
I must admit I feel foolish in following the link in the email and not being diligent in checking it authenticity but this whole cashback process is concerning me anyway. Watchdog anyone?
Will be keeping an eye on my bank account, and if by some miracle £50 should turn up, will post back.
Nor impressed Samsung!!!
I bought by tab/2 on 2011.12 at Tesco, Llantrisant. It is now between 30 and 45 days, and I claim my cash back
I like many others am having problems submitting my claim. I purchased a Galaxy Note on Dec 3rd and tried to make my £50 cash back claim on Dec 29th. After scanning my receipt and completing the 10 page claims form twice , when it came to submitting my claim it said there was a server error both times. Has anyone encountered the same problem.
An error message appears on mine after step 7, entering bank details! I’ve tried twice and same on both occasions. When you entered the name of account, did you put spaces between your first and last name as at the top of the page it says not to have any spaces. Also did you include your salutation? I not sure whether these affect the error message? Think I might just skip the bank details bit and call them.
Good luck, hope u manage to submit your claim! Not the easiest of things to do!!
It’s working now! Didn’t leave any spaces between my initials and surname on bank screen page 7. Just hoping for confirmation e-mail now!
What a farce, tried 3 times now and it hangs on page 7 of 10.
has anybody received cash back?
Appalling service, tried 3 computers and still hangs on page 7.
Has anybody actually received cash back?
I will be ringing Samsung UK direct on wednesday – just a thought but if we purchased via credit card under the promise of cash back is this not part of the sale transaction? Reason i ask is that no actual retailer like tesco or currys advertise the fact? Is this to protect them?
I was going to purchase a 2nd tablet before the deadline tomorrow night – may have to re think!
website is down!
I am having the same problem as Mandy, it just keeps saying server error when you get to step 7 (enter your bank details).
bought my galaxy tab from tesco tried to fill thre claim form in loads and loads of times only yo get to page 7 then get no further, its driving me mad!!
I can not get past stage 5 it keeps sayin upload requires completion
failed yesterday at page 7, again today at page 7 (bank details). No answer on phone – just queue.
What’s happening?
I bought from Tesco a samsung 10.1 Note when trying to get the £50 cash back I filled in the claim form wrong, when I started again although my claim had not been submitted however the product referance number had so I could get no further. I phoned Tesco to see if they could help as they advertised the promotion, they completely deny any responsability in helping me claim ( is this fair practice ? as I bought the tab from there) Anyway I have untill the end of today to get my claim in, I have rang the samsung helpline number 08433083776 waited for 20 mins only for them to hang up before a word was said, this was not a free call. I have wasted two hours yesterday and the same today…
Call this number 0845 051 5121.
I had problems with step 7, so I pressed skip bank details instead but the page hanged, so I did it again and on page 7, I omitted the salutation just the first name and surname together with no spacing. The claim went through. However upon checking my email, received two one saying I have to call to provide my details and the other saying that the claim has been made. To avoid confusion I called the number above and they answered within 10 rings and the lady cancelled my first claim and said that they had web site issues last night.
My husband read into the samsung claim, can’t be 100% sure because things are so obsecure, but it seems that you have until mid February to claim. Shops have removed the offer, but apparently it’s ‘purchases made before 31st December’ and still have ’60 days’ to claim… Though don’t take my word for it, all I am saying is, don’t give up on claiming simply because you think you have missed 31st December.
Another point is, wherever you bought the tab, the offer has nothing to do with them, so don’t expect any help. They are under no obligation to help so if you have a CSA that says ‘no can’t help’… I don’t think you should get upset or angry. Again, try your best with the claim form and try other formats of filling in the form. With uploading the pic of receipt, I simply took the pic from my iPad, I assume you can do the same with your new samsung tab!
Call the above number and see what they can do, but I assume you can only call them once you have a claim number. Fingers crossed and good luck to all. Hope this help.
I have just got past Step 7, bank details, tonight after trying the last two nights. My laptop indicated that their server was over loaded. The telephone customer service line was also engaged. I just wish that I had noted the ID number which is given at Step 7 , for you to quote if you wish to give your bank details over the ‘phone instead of on line. At the end of the process I couldn’t get back to that page again.
just to confirm if hangs on page 7 – bank details,
YOU CANNOT HAVE SPACES IN YOUR NAME DETAILS!
i just registered with my surname only, as long as you have sort code and bank account number your money will find you.
thanks to previous people for sharing information – if and when i receive my cash back i will post here…
Just got confirming e-mail from Samsung that claim has been received.
Problem is page 7 and bank account name field. Just enter your name as one word NO SPACES.
Terrible, terrible form design. Good job they’re not in the IT industry!
I have been trying to claim for over a week now using the on line form. Each time it got stuck on step 7 where you enter your bank details, it would just time out. I then tried the advice above by not putting spaces in between my intial and surname and again it timed out. I called Opia ltd – 0845 051 5121 (the company who are dealing with the promotion) and I have been informed that that last claim i tried did go through despite timing out and they have validated it. I have not received a confirmation e mail as it the claim was verified manually however I have been assured that I will receive the money in 45 days. We shall wait and see.
How long did it take to receive the e-mail confirmation? I finally got to stage 10 on 31/12 but haven’t received any acknowledgement from Samsung. Phoned the dreaded 0843 number & hung on for 15mins before giving up. I am so fed up with this…never again.
I didn’t get a confirmation email straight away and rang them up 4 days after putting in my claim, in which I was told that one was sent. They then said it might be in my junk folder, and I told them it was not.
In the end, this kind lady on the phone took my postcode and found my details and forwarded me on the confirmation email with tracking number.
I have now had 2 of my claims validated but awaiting payment.
I had it validated about 9th December and worked out, with the 45 working days + 5 it will be about the 15th February, and that’s not including Xmas bank holidays etc.
Good luck with your claim.
P.S.
Anyway, I think you should have had confirmation straight away, unless they don’t do it with the new year hols etc.
I bought the 7″ Galaxy Tablet and my claim was validated on 13 December 2012. I have today received the free 8GB Micro SD card. Now waiting to see if the £30 arrives within the promised timeframe.
I purchased Tab 2 10.1 from Tesco before Xmas.
I submittted within the correct timescale and received a confirmation email.
the T and Cs say that you will hear within 14 days if you need to provide any info.
Today, approx 3 weeks later , they have asked for a photograph of the rear of the tablet showing the model number and serial no
. lol. you need a microscope not a camera!
I have emailed them, and Watchdog and Twittered my anger!
one further thing. I rang the hotline. I waited 20 mins. eventually I climbed up the queue and it was my turn. how disappointed was I to be greeted by an automated message saying that they were busy and if it was urgent I should send them an email! at which point they rang off! aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhh.
I’ve just taken a photo of back of mine ((Used Macro Camera), Blinking hard work)), Cropped it , sharpened it up in photoshop and sent it back to them, Wish me luck, Looks like I’m gonna need it, And just to make things worse we brought 2 , we used 2 different email address and details mine & hers different reciepts etc so that should’nt be a problem, But we both got the dreaded email back asking for these details . . . .
I too have now managed to photograph the required ser no.
I had to borrow a 7megapixel camera to achieve a resonable photo.
Online form now working! Just completed all 10 Steps – there is a question right at the end about what you think about participating in the cashback promotion … cheeky!
Hi, I have submited my cashback claim for my Tab 2 10.1″ on 1st january but didn’t receive any confirming email yet. Shall I just wait or call them please advice.
I would call them, as you need a confirmation email to get the tracking number, to be able to track your claim.
I didn’t initially get one, so I rang them and they said it’d been sent. I said I hadn’t received it. She said it must be in your ‘junk folder’ in which I told her it wasn’t.
Fortunately, she resent the email and I had it within minutes along with tracking number.
Good luck.
Stuck on page 5 cant get a picture of invoice to upload, any help ?
I also cannot get past stage 5. It looks as pic has uploaded then I get a ‘upload requires completion’ message. can anyone help?
Finally managed to complete steps 1 …. 10 after many failures …… Hooray!
No Email therefore no claim ID no
Calls to the [No] Help Line result in a long and expensive wait.
I reached number one in the Q but then got the ‘We cannot take your call’ message followed by cut off.
Calls to Opia are not answered!
Conclusion ….. Samsung have hired a bunch of unprincipled confidence tricksters who are minimising payouts on the cashback offer and recovering as much money as they can from telephone calls whilst using devious methods to bar the majority of claims.
Samsung need to investigate their puppet company !
Samsung should have their Royal Warrant removed!
That will be real good advertising
Spot on sir.
Hi, I think this cashback offer from samsung is a CON. I’d submited my claim for Tab 2 10.1″ on 01/01/13 but didn’t get any confirmation email and called today customer service made to waite in the queue for 30 minutes and then only heard recorded message that we are very busy at the moment please call later.
When you get to Step 7 (the infamous step 7 that actually refuses to take your bank account details!), there is the option to Skip This Step if you didn’t want to provide bank details online, if you take a note of the message at the bottom, it gives you the 6 digit tracking number to use when you ring them … I took a note of mine and despite not having the email confirmation, can use it to track the application (predictably showing as “Pending”).
Once I get my claim successfully, I am going to write to the directors of Opia and Samsung to say what an appaling service they have provided for claiming the Cashback. And provide this site’s link as evidence.
I too have tried to claim cash back, sent mine by snail post, keep e-mailing SAMSUNG for update info but no reply as yet, i think its a big SCAM just to increase sales, might go to WATCHDOG tv……..
I have had enough!!!!. E/mails being ignored, phone calls in a queue that cuts off after about 25 minutes costing me about £15 so far. I have even called Samsung customer services who say they can’t help and wouldn’t put me through to a complaint department as they said they do not have one. Today I have been on the WATCHDOG website and sent them a report and I urge EVERYONE ELSE WHO IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS TO DO SO PLEASE !!!!
Has anybody got their £50 yet i have not heard of anyone yet
If you fail to receive the email conformation, ring them on 0843 308 3776, wait the expected 20 minutes and eventually you will get through to someone who will check your details and in my case actually approved my application whilst talking to me! Also get the tracking number if required.
It needn’t have been so complicated.
Godd luck.
I have just received my £50 cashback but not without considerable hassle!
Two wasted calls to the 0843 number (each 21 mins before it hung up on me), 5 calls to the Samsung helpdesk (“sorry, we can’t help you as the company handling the cashback offer is an external company”) but who promised to have someone e-mail me regarding my complaint (still waiting).
Thanks to a post in this forum from Gordon Hollis (December 13, 2012):
“For those who use a BT call package where 0845 numbers are free, you can call Opia Ltd, the company handling the cash back on 0845 051 5121. This is the general helpline number but the kind lady who answered (some delay in a queue) handled my request and validated my claim immediately.”
I called this number and they actually answered, sorted and validated my claim.
I would suggest anyone still having problems (I see there’s a lot of you), don’t call the 0843 number (not counted as a local rate number by many phone providers) but use the 0845 number instead.
Good Luck!
You can also reach them on 0191-300-0742. This should be a normal call from either a mobile or fixed (landline) phone
they never answer on this number.
Sounds great in store but you can only claim after a certain period of time (30 days I think) and then they send an email saying it could take 45 days for the cheque to arrive plus 5 days for postage, really slow and this is not disclosed in store when you buy
Some success …
Sent an email to OPIA
complaint plus details of claim suggestion of incompetence etc etc and request for acknowledgement.
Then sent same mail to Samsung support with covering note under ‘Others’ label
received auto reply from Samsung saying they would get back to me
Then forwarded OPIA mail and Samsung reply to the promotion email address.
Two hours later a reply from the promotion address confirming that they had my claim and had safely stored my bank details. They attached a copy of the confirmation email that I never received that listed my claim ID number and told me that …..
All that is left for you to do is wait for your claim to be validated. The checking and validation process may take up to 14 days. We will then contact you to confirm that your claim has been validated.
Successful claims will be settled electronically using the bank details provided during your application.
So now I wait!
On another forum this was posted re the [No] Help Line…..
This must be a recording or something rather than a proper IVR, as it’s exactly the same experience each time. As it’s not free, and there doesn’t seem to be any intention to answer the call, isn’t this an OFCOM matter?
0843 308 xxxx is classified as a BT Charge “g6″ call, chargable at 5.105ppm.
Totting up, that £1.07 each call.
Everyone has had the same experience with this phone number and it’s a good point about Ofcom. I think I will lodge a complaint. I also note that Step 10 of the claims process said that local call rates apply to that phone number (I have a screenshot of this) which is clearly untrue.
Perhaps we should all complain to OFFCOM
I too have heard nothing I cant track my claim as have no id numbers for the two samsung tabs I purchased in november I have spent three days trying to to get through..its an absolute disgrace. Thankyou for suggesting the other numbers I will try again tomorrow.. I have not recieved any response so tried to re register them both but get an alert stating that the serial numbers have already been used,, another email to watchdog I think
Just to let you know i managed to submit the claim today without any problems, only problem was delayed email confirmation but after about 15mins i received it.

This is an automated email, please do not reply.”
I hope i receive this cashback and micro sd card as if there was no promotion i would rather buy Nexus 7.
Hi there just an update
Got through on tims number above was told one of the claims had been recieved but needed to email photo of system, receipt and mode number on box I had included all that information when I submitted the claim in the first place but they emailed me whilst on the phone so I replied immediately with the info requested
The second claim I made is not on their system but when I try and re do it it states that a claim has already been made on it which it hasnt so ive attacted the two systems, boxes, receoits to the first claim which they gave me the id number for and I have since checked and the status is pending so will wait and see keep you guys posted
Hi, submitted my cashback on 01/01/13, I managed to got it validated today over the phone and I was given the ID number, which confirms claim status validated. This was my 3rd attepmt to get through, gentleman on the told me cashback will be paid in to my bank account within 30 days.
I bought the samsung tab2 together with a cover from currys, whereby I would receive £50 cashback from samsung and £30 from currys. As per my previous posts I have had trouble submitting the samsu g claim, but did receive an email from currys giving me a claim id. Just telephoned currys help line on 0843 658 0737, which was answered within 3mins and a very helpful lady validated my claim for currys but also confirmed my samsung claim had been validated!!! They have access to the samsung claim process. So if you are claiming from currys and sumsung, do your chasing through currys…a far better service, people that want to help you rather than hinder. My samsung money will be sent to my bank on 10th feb with a cheque to follow from currys in next 30days. Success. Good luck to everybody else
I had not received email containing ID number, I contacted the claims helpline several times via email and up to now i have not received a response. Luckily for me I jotted down the ID number they gave when completing the online form for people who want to give their bank details via telephone and by using this I was able to get an update to my claim which is classed as still pending. I would strongly advise anyone when making an online claim for cashback to keep a note of the ID number they provide as this is the ID number you will need to check the progress of your claim.
I got an email before Xmas saying that that the payment would be processed shortly. Ho Ho Ho….still no money. Why not

Something finally moving !
Received this
Thank you for applying for the Samsung Back To College offer.
However your claim is missing the following required documentation:
Please provide a photo of the back of the tablet, clearly showing the model/serial number.
So we can process your claim please email documents@samsungbacktocollege.com and attach the file containing the copy of your receipt or invoice to this email. Once you have done this please click the send button to complete the process. Please ensure you include the Claim Reference given above. Please contact one of our promotional support associates for further help if required.
however my claim ID does not work and they had all this before so someone is obviously following a script!
Replied within 3hrs of receipt and gave all they asked for plus a picture that shows the box serial no and the back of the tablet that also shows the Currys PC World stock no that appears on the receipt.
What can they do now to prevaricate ?
I will not hold my breath as it could be a long wait
My claim was validated today up to 35 days wait now
Wow this has been difficult
After getting stuck at step 7 on the claim form several 100x I finally managed to complete it, why I don’t know coz I didn’t do anything different
Then No confirmation email… I sent them several emails with no reply!!!
after following the good advice in a post on here
(Gordon Hollis to call instead 0845 051 5121)
after 36mins on hold yesterday finally spoke to someone who gave me my claim id number although they said it has yet to be validated
received an email today saying claim been validated and cash should be with me within 35 days
now gotta go thru it all again for my nan but she bought hers from amazon. What can I use as proof of purchase?
Thanks
Hi all,
I wanted to post as I found this forum so useful when I like you, wondered if I’d ever get my money. THIS IS NO SCAM I RECEIVED MY £50 TODAY! I was really doubtful reading all your similar stories but wanted to give you hope!
I ordered my Samsung Galaxy Tab from tesco in November, claimed online for the cashback and waited. I never received a confirmation email but at the time thought no more of it. Christmas came and went and still no money, so last week I decided to chase. I opted to call Opia as someone suggested above 0845 0515121. I was in a queue for 44 minutes!!!! In the end I left a message to be called back. By this point I was mad, so penned an email to Opia and Samsung. ( Samsung email is the one on the cashback page, the Opia one came from their website). It was a concise, damning email of my experiences of the cashback process, my disappointment in Samsung as I’ve always been a huge Samsung advocate and was beginning to doubt I’d ever buy Samsung again. I documented my attempts to reach Samsung and Opia etc etc. Of course I didn’t expect to hear a thing – within the hour I received a call from Opia apologising! They gave me my claim ref, told me it had been approved and should be paid within 30 days. That would be this week. Again I expected to have to chase again but indeed, as they said I received the money today.
Don’t give up, this is a real promotion and perhaps try my email tactic?
GOOD LUCK!
Thanks for that glimmer of hope, i will now continually be checking my bank account !
still not able to track claim etc so I sent this but not expecting a responce …..
The claim ID 3****5 that you have sent to me in two emails is not usable in your tracking system.
Entering the number and clicking the TRACK button results in a blank screen.
Is this yet another example of your defective and broken system?
You requested additional information which partially duplicated information already lodged with yourselves.
The information you requested contravened the original Terms and Conditions of the promotion and assumed I would have access to suitable equipment to produce photographs of the tablet in sufficient resolution to show the serial no. imprinted on the case.
The information you requested was however submitted within three hours of your request being received and an acknowledgement of my email to you was requested when the email was submitted.
No acknowledgement was received!
I continue to collate data for submission to the Managing Director of Samsung and the BBC Watchdog programme and intend to share such information with the many others who are also collecting all available information regarding your miss-managment of this promotion and your continued blatant infringement of the OFCOM rules
Yours faithfully
disgusting con! £50 quid cashback??? no way! I did everything as stipulated! I bought on 14th Nov 2012 from Tesco, filled cashback claim online *30th Nov (*within 15 and 60 days) I filled all details in online sent jpeg of receipt, sent me bank details, I got an email back to confirm receipt! and then NOTHING I have rang numerous times, costing me a small fortune! I have emailed x 3 occaisions even copying in a solicitors small claims third party and still NOTHING! I dont even care about the £50 QUID now its the principle! I HATE being duped! Its a huge CON and SAMSUNG I was going to buy a SAMSUNG mini phone but NO thankyou! DIsgusting! Im now off to write to watchdog and the APPLE store for my new IPHONE!
Hi everyone,
After reading all of the comments on here. I decided to go straight to Opia Ltd. I recieved an e mail from Samsung yesterday and couldn’t understand why you needed to try to photograph the back of the tablet, almost an impossible task, unless you have a high end model of a camera, so never even tried. I phoned Opia today, not expecting to get through, but after a minute or so my call was answered. The lady explained it is the box you have to photograph not the tablet, and that this is a mistake in the e-mail, apparently their superiors are aware of this. So why not correct it then!! Anyway I decided to ask the lady if she could look at the progress of my claim, luckily I had got my claim reference number. However she was still adamant I needed to send a photograph. Then she came back and told me my claim had been validated at 8.35 this morning and that I had been sent an e-mail. It is now 11.15 and no validation e-mail has arrived. Maybe it is coming through snail mail from South Korea or where it is coming from LOL. I was assured my claim would be in my bank 30 days from today. So watch this space. Don’t go stressing trying to take a pic of your tablet or ringing samsung direct, go sraight through Opia Ltd and maybe you will be as lucky as I was. The lady was so apologetic, maybe I was lucky speaking to a nice person, but I am still sceptical as to wether I will recieve my cashback. You do need to have your claim reference number though, this will be in the e-mail you recieve from Samsung or on their website when you submitt your claim. I too had problems submitting my claim on the site, but I didn’t give up and eventually it did send it. Please note it did take 2 weeks for Samsung to acknowledge my claim by e-mail. The strange thing is though, the lady I spoke to vaildated my claim without me ending up having to take a photograph of the box!! So why are Samsung asking you to do this, doesn’t make any sense to me. No other company I know of goes to these lengths just to give customers cashback. My husband bought a Nikon camera for christmas, he senT a copy of the reciept to them and within 10 days recieved his cashback. Come on Samsung, get your act together!!!
Good Luck Everyone. Will post back and let you know if I do eventually get my CASHBACK, but am not holding my breath. I have to go through this again for my daughter, as she had her tablet a few days after me, I have made the claim, but she hasn’t recieved a confirmation e-mail yet from Samsung. So that will be interesting to see if it goes as smooth as mine did. JUST DON’T GIVE UP.
Quick Update.
Do check your junk box, this is strange. Recieved yesterday at 8.31 an email asking for photo of back of tablet, this email went into my inbox, not in the junk folder. After phoning this morning and the lady told me my claim had been validated, I didn’t think to check my junk box, have just done that and low and behold an email sent yesterday 4 mins after the 8 31am email, validating my claim. Why send you one asking for photo, then send one 4 mins later validating your claim???? This just gets better LOL.
I’m almost too embarrassed to post this, but my £30 was paid into my bank account in the last few days. This was approximately 30 days after my claim was validated. I find it a bit strange that they do not send an email stating that the payment has been made.
In a way I’m disappointed because I was quite looking forward to writing to both Opia and Samsung to complain about the money not being paid!
Good luck to all.
Woo hoo my claim has been validated today after numerous emails … Lets wait & see … There will be a considerable backlog due to christmas purchases, just concerned some people may miss the deadline due to this . I will post agian if & when I receive cashback !!!
Got an email last week stating my £30 cashback would be paid into my account within 30 days,on Saturday 12th January I also received an 8gb micro SD card as promised, Jackpot!! This means I paid £158-00 From Argos for the Galaxy tab2 7 less £30-00 cashback plus my free micro SD, No complaints from me.
Things are moving at opia at last.
I sent them the additional pictures they requested at 21.08pm on 14th
Today 18th at 21.07 my mail was displayed on a computer and a read receipt generated at exactly the same time I was sent an email saying my claim was validated. HOORAY!
Do OPIA work at 9pm on a snowy Saturday?
Is this another example of an automated delay built into the system?
Did a human ever look at my high resolution photograph of the back of the tablet?
Could I have sent any junk picture in response to the additional info request and thus triggered the 96 hr auto delay system by attaching the ID number to trigger the auto recognition algorythm.
Just follow their instructions and eventually you will get there!
I am still collecting info for Watchdog and Ofcom
It is a matter of princple now!
Update.
Think they might have got the message at last. I was dreading having to make another phone call on my daughters behalf this time, as I had recieved my validation e-mail. My daughter got her tab 4 days after me, so her application for cashback was submitted a few days after mine. Well, she has recieved a validation e mail, without her recieving one from them asking her to send a photograph of the back of the tablet. Have Samsung got thier act together al last or are some of you still getting asked to send a photograph of the back of the tablet? Will post back when I recieve free memory card and cashback. Again, don’t give up !!
Just a warning from my recent experience do not believe in any cashback promised by Samsung!!!!! I have tried to get for my samsung galaxy tableg and they have ignored my claim.
Moreover, when I wrote to them kindly asking what was wrong with my claim they never wrote back to me.!!!!
Judging by the majority of comments on this blog, it looks as though there are a lot of p***** off punters out there – me included! I bought my tablet from Tesco in November 2012, claimed online 30 November 2012, and was assured that £50 would be in my account 30 December 2012, and I am still waiting! I did everything required online, and was advised that I would receive an e-mail confirmation with a number to enable me to track the claim progress – still waiting. I have tried to contact the handlers on 0191 300 0742, but nobody answers.
Surely somebody has to be responsible for this debacle! From what I can deduce, Tesco and Samsung have each played a part in this, and maybe others. Remember, although it might be just £50 to each of us, it must run into hundreds of thousands of pounds for the organisers! I would like to think that this situation has been brought about by demand exceeding expectations and catching everybody out. However, we can’t rule out the possibility that somebody may be lining their pockets at our expense – food for thought!
As time goes by, I grow more and more sceptical about the whole affair – perhaps a legal eagle out there might like to investigate the situation further!
I went in to Tesco to buy a Galaxy TAB 2 10.1 on 24th December and was told the cash back offer had been pulled 2 weeks early. So I didn’t buy a Galaxy TAB.
After reading these comments, I’m glad I didn’t have to struggle through the cash back procedure. Seems like more hassle than it is worth.
Made a claim on the 1st January. Spoke to opia today and the claim was validated on the 13th January but they didn’t let me know. They money will be with me mid Feb. I suggest you ring them if you are unsure.
How to get cashback
Mary,
There is enough information in this post to work it out. You need to visit the website put aside for the claim and follow the simple process. Make a note of your id when you see the question about the transfer of money
To make the claim use the following link.
http://www.samsung.com/uk/tab2cashback/
AJ
In 32 days ago I did answer the all question for the cash back.
but I’m still waiting for my money! and I don’t think i will get it back!
I bought the tablet at the begining of December and claimed my cash back on 31/12/12. I had trouble claming on-line and couldn’t get past step 7 so had to ring Opia (0845 051 5121) who validated my claim. I was given the reference number over the phone and never received a confirmation e mail. This worried me and after reading some of the comments on here so I emailed them last week. I had no response from my hotmail account so sent the e mail again from another account. I received a response after a few days stating that my claim was due to be paid out shortly. (I had worked out that it should be paid by 14/2/13). Anyway Friday I checked my account anf £50 had been paid in under Opia. Happy days! no more worrying over it for me!
Just to say that like Jolene (above) I also received the £50.00 cash back from Opia last Friday (4th Feb.). As mentioned in my previous post, I submitted my claim on the 13/12/’12 so it took 62 calendar days before it was honoured. I hope that this result (along with the successes reported elsewhere) will give some encouragement to others ( e.g. Mazin) that their claims will be met.
Good luck and best wishes
I also fell for the “Cash-Back” (would like to call it a scam) Trap.
a) nobody said I have to claim from Samsung, they said go to our website and claim
b) I complete on the date they said (December 2012) the claim and the email on 12/12/2012 said:
“Your Currys PC World Cashback payment has now been validated. You will receive your cheque within 42 working days of receipt of this email. Please allow up to an extra 5 working days for postage.” No amount, no yes you get £80.
I now received a £30 cheque and now when visiting the site I read I have to claim the other £50 from Samsung but NO LINK no nothing again.
It’s a red tape trap and I tried to complete a claim on Samsung’s website but… they are saying it’s 2 late now.
I feel ripped off!
Clam my cash back
Hello Lynda, you must use the Samsung website to claim the cashback for your tablet purchase, the above comments have detailed the procedure thoroughly
Many people (including myself) have applied for this cashback and not received ANYTHING
Beware!!!
I am extremely annoyed with Currys and Samsung.I purchased a tab 2 10.1 on Nov 17th 2012. I chose the product because of the cashback offer. I claimed the offer at the earliest opportunity I could via the Currys site. A very long time passed and I contacted Currys to see what was happening to be told it had been validated and I had to wait for a cheque. No amount was mentioned. I questioned the process and was not given any information other than I should have received an email…. Today I have received a cheque for £30!I was obviously meant to make 2 claims! It is now too late to claim so I am £50 short. I would not have purchased the product at this price as I simply cannot afford it.I am a careful person and ensure I look over everything very properly to ensure I do not miss out. I have always been very suspicious of such offers for reasons exactly such as this. When I purchased the tab I asked the salesman about the offer and was assured it was very easily done via the Currys website. Clearly not.I would like it if you would allow me to make a late claim as I cannot afford to just lose £50.
Hello Dave, we are not running the cash back promotion. We are a retailer selling Samsung tablets and have posted this blog simply for information for people that wanted it.
We are sorry to hear about your experience with Currys and Samsung and hope you are able to reach a resolution. We would recommend contacting Samsung support directly to deal with this issue
I was never told about two claim forms too. Just Currys
Hello Folks!
Just to let you know that I got my cash back this morning. Submitted claim on December 17th last year. Claim was validated on January 3rd. Received £50 cash in my accounts today February 12th It took 47 days in total.
Another point, the customer services (Opia) are more responsive now than before. Perhaps it shows that they are listening to people’s complaints or even monitoring this blog for feedbacks, which is good.
Totally confused by all this. Today I receivd £20 pound from Currys… big shock as i was expecting £50. Been since told you had to submit a claims form with Samsung. I was never told this when i purchased from Currys. Also have learnt when completeing the Currys form it will direct you to Samsungs form, it never did this for me.
Confused…. anyone else in the same boat?
Total scam!! I purchased my Samsung tablet early Nov, posted my claim on the earliest date permitted. I had to chase up the claim as I hadn’t heard anything. They did eventually say it was verified and my £50 cashback would be in my account 7 Feb 13 I have chased them up several times by email saying not received payment and how dissapointed I am at their lack of communication. The replies (that I do receive) are always of an automated type which confirms my thoughts that there are a lot of unhappy customers out there! Trying to contact them by phone is no use and a complete waste of time. I have been in a queue for 50 mins 4 times and then line goes dead. I have warned them in my emails that I am contacting trading standards but this does not seem to warrant a reply from them either?!
Totaly disgusted and disapointed with Curryy!s/Samsung purchased my tablet in November 2012 carried out filling in all the correct details photographed the reciept on th tablet sent as required within the time frames required. Checked on the internet for progress, nothing happened and not recieved cash back 15 Feb 2013. I will keep chasing but do not think Currys/Samsung have any intention of rfunding this cash a total con!
All,
I can see a lot of people on here getting frustrated and this seems to have been brought about by the implementation of a very poor processing system by the company who acting on behalf of Samsung.
I have just had my claim validated but I never received a confirmation email prior to today saying that my claim was validated.
January 3rd. Claim made and followed to the letter via the website. No confirmation email was received and therefore I had no tracking code.
The terms and conditions say that if no validation code is received you have to inform them within 30 days by emailing help@samsungbacktocollege.com
January 8th I emailed them telling them that I had received no confirmation email or code. Still no response.
January 9th. Becasuse I had used my hotmail account I thought that may be their filters were binning hotmail emails. So, I sent an email the email I sent on the 8th from my corporate account enabling Delivery and Read Receipts via Outlook.
I received a Delivery receipt within two hours but still did not receive any response.
January 15th. I received a request for further documenation. They wanted a delivery note to prove that the item had been received. This was the first contact I had. Having read this forum I sent a PDF’d delivery note along with a jpeg photo of the box showing the serial number.
January 21st. I received a Read Receipt to my corporate email showing that the email sent on January 9th had been read. An hour later I received an email saying that my claim was validated with the validation number.
Up until today putting in the tracking number on their website didn’t give any information at all.
In Summary, I think they must be snowed under with claims (which is no excuse for an awful system which should at least send you an email acknowledging receipt. At least you would know that the claim had been received) so it’s a case of just waiting it out. Just make sure if you have not heard within 14 days of submitting your claim that you send a follow up email to help@… to comply with their terms and conditions.
Good luck.
AJ
For what it may be worth my experience is as follows:-
Galaxy tablet 2 10.1 purchased from Tesco Direct on 12th November 2012. Applied for cash back on 13th. December (just over one month after purchase in compliance with rules).
Phoned Opia Ltd on 27th. December for an update – very fortunate to get straight through to the “very kind lady” others have mentioned. She validated my application and gave me the claim number immediately. This was confirmed by e-mail three days later.
The £50.00 cash back should be provided in 30 days plus 5 working days for bank transfer delays.
On a calendar day basis it should arrive by 4th February.
On a working day basis it should arrive by 18th February.
On a 45 working days plus 5 working days for bank transfer it should arrive by 1st March
(If my arithmetic on the above is correct!)
As Julia has written – just wait the allocated time (I suppose we must). I shall let you know what happens.
I should like to congratulate everyone involved in this splendid forum. This cash back offer has been a most dreadful promotion. It is an appalling indictment of the business ethics of Samsung in the marketing their Galaxy Note tablets in the UK. Tesco was eager to support and exploit this offer in their sales pitch before severing abruptly their association with it. No assistance has been offered to customers in overcoming the problems placed by Samsung in this cash back payment debacle. I had hoped for “after sales service” – perhaps my naivety knows no bounds!
Happy to support representations to Watchdog and OFCOM – would appreciate advice on best way on how to do this.
Good luck and best wiahes
