Looks nice, not sure if it’s worth an extra £100 for the digitiser/pen/S-note, though over the Tab2 10.1. Bumping up the screen resolution closer to the ipad’s would have made it easier for me personally, that extra resolution is great for reading papers and magazines.
BTW the specs page you’ve got up for the Note 10.1 lists under ports “Video Out MHL/HDMI via MicroUSB (Adapter required)”, I presume this should read “HDMI via 30-pin adaptor”, or is there a microUSB port just for this?
You are right Ian. Will get that changed. Well spotted!
Sixteen Gigabytes……. You have to be joking surely!!
It may have a MicroSD card slot but with today’s software demands that internal 16GB is no where enough for this Tablet.
Just look at the gaming industry alone… Asphalt 7 takes 1.35GB (I am so glad I only use business tools) and I can think of quite a few other titles that chomp 650+MB of storage.
The advertising on using the SPen is supposedly to promote creativity. Creativity will require storage and please do not expect that 50GB Dropbox account to help.
With a WiFi only model your cloud service is restricted when in range of a connection, so forget that massive 50GB of storage when there is no signal bar.
If you plump for the SIM-Free model, large data services and tariff’s in the UK costs plenty; well, far too much for most….. and mark my words you will eat data at an alarming rate.
As such the use of a cloud service will hit your pocket hard when there is no WiFi.
Not only that but you also will have to rely on a decent 3G reception and we all know how difficult this can be in getting a steady and solid connection when out and about.
So, would I consider a 16GB model………. Not on your life.
That is why I will take the 64GB ASUS Transformer Infinity T700 when it is released.
Mike
Valid comments Mike, A lot will depends on users individual requirements. T700 looking at late Q4 release.
I’m on board with the ‘more is more’ sentiment, but personally I could live with 16Gb internal as long as there’s a microSD slot for media, but then I have only got about 3Gb of program data installed.
Late Q4…. I certainly hope not.
Amazon.de have been selling it since July and quite a few have imported the Tablet only version from them.
The general word is UK sales will commence 31st August 2012 (and I was sincerely hoping Clove would be included this time).
Mike
Mike,
Having spoken to ASUS distribution only last week, they gave me this information (they could be wrong). Naturally if the info changes we will update but this is the expectation it the UK at the moment.
Sorry Guys, I just can not see it happening that late in the year….
I know ASUS were appalling with their delivery of the TF201 when it was released and they said it would not happen again.
It’s now readily available in Germany and the States, with Canada now also taking pre-orders for an end of August release and they normally follow after the UK.
There would be a host of UK Forum members annoyed and confused if the T700 fell behind to Nov/Dec 2012 before seeing sales.
Anyway, back to the Note 10.1, I would be tempted if it were a 64GB unit but the price would most probably put me off.
ASUS are saying the T700 with Keyboard will be £599. Can I see a 64GB Note 10.1 and without a Keyboard coming in at that price…. I don’t think so.
Mike
I’m just wondering, you wouldn’t have any info on whether the 32Gb/3G version is coming any time (reasonably) soon? Otherwise it would be a pretty big disappointment to wait for months only to end up with the 16gb version instead…
Hi Nygel,
We will have some info on the other versions going up shortly.
This phone is a monster but I like my question is that is so uncomfortable to talk? I think maybe some time you get used, There are many comparisons with other smartphones but this is the best for the applications offered in mexico its price is around 12000 and you can get it is to pay rent tariff plan.
I don’t think many people will be using the Note 10.1 as a phone, at least not without a bluetooth earpiece…
Does anyone have any release date news on either a 32gb, 64gb version of the Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 or the Asus Transformer Infinity 64GB.
Amazon are the only people I can find that have the Asus Transformer Infinity 64GB and have the monopoly on this so price is high and availability is low!
The Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 is more readily available but only in the 16gb model. Can’t find the 32gb or 64gb models ANYWHERE!!!!!
Hi Manoj,
Unfortunately there is no further information that we have. It is often the case at the moment that only the 16GB variants of Samsung products are released in the UK
Thanks Chris,
Just annoyed that both Asus and Samsung are quite happy to advertise all the options that are and are not availble in the Uk at the same time and not differentiate between the two! I had managed to contact Samsung directly and got the following answer:
“Dear Manoj,
Thank you for contacting Samsung.
Regarding your query please be advised that there currently is no official release date for this product within the UK.
As always you can register online at our Samsung UK website to receive up to date news on all our upcoming products and services.
You can stay up to date with the latest Samsung news on our official Samsung UK Facebook page (facebook.com/SamsungUK) or our Twitter feed (Twitter.com/SamsungUK).
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
David
Online Support Team
SAMSUNG Customer Support Centre”
Not very helpful.
Does anyone know of a Uk contact email address for ASUS – can’t find any customer contact details for them in the UK that are not related to after sales support!
Cheers,
Manoj
A frustratingly vague response.
All we have is the technical support number for ASUS: 01442 202730.
Slightly wandering off topic, but my personal experience with the Infinity is that unless you really need the high pixel count and keyboard, you’d be better off getting a Note 10.1 and lashing out on a microSD card and bluetooth keyboard. The Infinity is underpowered and frequently crashed inexplicably when I used it for a few weeks, very frustrating.
Well….. I am lining up my options:-
Option 1 would have been a 32GB (or larger) Note ~ but that’s not going to happen soon if at all. Unlike the Note II which Samsung are still advertising in configurations of 16/32/64GB versions the Note 10.1 is only listed as a 16GB model.
To add insult to injury on the Note II front, this 16/32/64GB versions is hardly true or accurate and serves nothing but confusion and frustration with would be owners longing for the larger storage models.
Shame on you Samsung. You have lost my purchase of both the Note II and the Note 10.1
Option 2 would be the ASUS T700 ~ the only reason I have held back this past couple of months is Option 1.
Option 3 the soon to be officially announced Nexus 10 ~ I have now added this model to my list. However, it all depends on the memory configuration.
Seeing as Google have just increased the Nexus 7 from 16GB to 32GB I think it would be safe to say the Nexus 10 will be a 32GB model from the start or larger. The only issue is the lack of a MicroSD socket which Google are hell-bent on not including in any of their models.
Mike
Hi Ian,
It looks like you’ve managed to get hold of an infinity – lucky you! Yes probably am going to get the note 10.1 but would be nice to have options – especially when they are being wafted in front of you!
Did you get your infinity from Amazon?
Manoj
Yes, Amazon; but as I say, where it has advantages in screen and expansion options, it really falls down in stability. It wasn’t always so; I’m one of the few who actually liked the Prime (and the first gen transformer) over the Tabs, but I rather think Asus dropped the ball on the Infinity, and the Note 10.1 at least is a much better device. If you miss USB storage, you can plug an unpowered USB hub into the Note 10.1 and connect a few devices to that without problems! The only reason you’d really want an Infinity is for the screen, and nice as it is, it’s not worth the other problems.
Any update on the 32gb version of this tablet in the uk? I’ve seen it for sale on very.co.uk and woolworths (same company I believe) but would rather get it from somewhere else if poss?
Afraid not Louise. We’re unlikely to receive stock of it now. I’m surprised to hear that it’s in stock elsewhere tbh. Do they definitely have it in stock or just advertising it?
It’s definitely available Chris.
It pained me but as Clove could not source one for me I ended up getting a 32GB White Wifi only model (N8010) from another stockist.
All they did was contact the two UK distributors and one of them had stock available.
I have had mine now for just over a week.
It’s definitely a UK model as it’s showing the correct ROM revision BTU.
Mike
No problem Mike, that’s understandable.
It looks like stock has come through but we’ve not had the message to say so!
I”d really like a 32gb wireless and 3g but I don’t think these are out yet in the uk anyway. I’ve seen some that are 32gb and 3G but they seem to be an older model with only 1024mb of ram…
Lousa,
Those sellers who are stating 1GB RAM have taken their findings from the Samsung UK Web Site which is wrong. Samsung UK have not updated their Web Site since the Note 10.1 was first announced which at that time it was to only have 1GB RAM.
Only after it was learned the Nexus 10 was to have 2GB RAM did Samsung update the RAM on their Note 10.1 to also match the Nexus 10.
If you look first here at Samsung UK you will see they are still advertising 1GB RAM ~ http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/galaxy-note/tablets/GT-N8000EAABTU
However, now go to Samsung Global and you will see it reflects the correct 2GB RAM size ~

Mike
Thanks Mike, I spoke to the shop in question and they said that it definitely was a 1GB, but I was doubtful so asked for the model number and it was
GT-N8010ZWEBTU (for the 3g model)
The link to the samsung site uk site has the code as GT-N8000EAABTU, as you mention, and the worldwide site doesn’t seem to show what the code is.
Very confused now! Any input would be very appreciated!
BTU merely tells you it is a UK specific ROM.
Personally I have never heard of a 1GB model being sold.
Is the seller reading the RAM direct from the Box or from somewhere else?
Mike
Hi Mike,
thanks again for responding, everywhere I search for the 3g model it is listed as 1GB (ebay, sites on google shopping etc) – appreciate what you’ve said about the wrong info listed from samsung, but I’ve asked the shop in question – Kikatech (hope I’m allowed to post that here) and I’ll let you know what they say.
All the non 3g 32gb versions I have found are listed as 2GB
If I can stick my beak in, the N8010 in the product code indicates a non-3g WiFi only model, I think, so you might want to question if they know what they’re selling…
Hi Ian, thanks for pointing that out!
I’ve just noticed that on the page they actually say that the model number is GT-N8000EAABTU
Not GT-N8010 as I was told by email so seems like there is some confusion!
Ian is quite correct.
N8000 = 3G & Wifi
N8010 = Wifi only
Mike
My experience isn’t necessarily definitive, but I did have a quick dig around a month or so ago when I was looking at the Note 10.1, and the only 32Gb variants I could find in the UK were the WiFi only models, unless you start looking at the US, but then you’ve got a new set of issues to think about…
Ok guys, just rang samsung to check and they have confirmed you are right Mike – There definitely has been no version of this tablet with 1GB!
Now I just have to decide whether to trust a shop that doesn’t seem to know what it is talking about!
Oops, I put my above reply in the wrong place!
Kikatech are confused, I’m confused, Samsung has not helped with not getting their product specs right.
Kikatech’s 3g 32GB version is actually listed as GT-N8010, its the 16gb verson that is listed as GT-N8000
BUT samsung told me that the correct model number for the 3g 32gb version is GT-N8010, which is different to what you guys think.
This is hurting my head.
Odd, but distance selling regulations are your friend here, so if you buy mail order, you can check the actual specs on the box, make sure the capacity and connectivity is right before even unsealing it, and send it straight back if it’s not what you want. Or you could get them to take a photo of the box end with the specs sticker on, it should be straightforward to interpret.
Trust me….. the N8010 is Wifi only, the N8000 is 3G & Wifi.
That is 100% accurate.
Mike
Thanks Mike, and Ian, I’ll take your word(s) for it!
I’ll update (in case anyone is interested) what happens and what I get (most likely the wifi 32gb by the looks of it!)
Good luck! I’m sure you’ll like the Note 101 either way; it’s easily my favourite current tablet, even above the famous fruity one…
Same as Ian…. Good Luck
I’m currently using a Nexus 7, ASUS Transformer 201, Galaxy Note 10.1 and have access to an iPad.
Without doubt the Note 10.1 like Ian mentions, it’s my favourite for general use.
Plus the 32GB model I have gives the Tablet that extra room to breath.
Mike
Thanks guys, and for your positive reviews of the note, it’s nice to feel confident about a purchase, and I’m really keen for the s-pen as I take a lot of notes on paper and it drives me mad!
Also feeling anti ipad for some reason even though I do have a mac.
As suspected, Kikatech in fact Do Not have the 3g 32gb version (most likely because it doesn’t exist here yet!) and have got their product info all mixed up, because they have two different prices for the same 32gb version since they do not have a 3g model! (despite what it says on their website).
The lowest price is a good one though so will go with that (and hope I get the right product!!), it’s a shame clove don’t have any in yet as they seem like a more reputable company! I’m thinking of getting a 64gb memory card from here though, I’ve heard this one works with the note.

Hi Louisa,
Sorry we can’t supply
Yes the 64GB card will be fine for it
There has been quite a few owners reporting under ICS the 64GB doesn’t work with the Note 10.1 Chris.
Once Jelly Bean has been added the card is then fine.
Mike
Thanks for clearing that up Mike.
Seems my last comment wasn’t approved, maybe because I put 2 links in the text?
Anyway just wanted to say a big thanks to Mike and everyone else who helped, you guys were 100% correct in all you said! I now have my lovely 32gb wifi note and loving it, although very tempted to install the new version of jellybean as it still has ICS on it and I am impatient to wait for the OTA update! (and so as you said mike, the 64gb card I did get from clove, is not yet working)
I’ve found some instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048213
Wonder if anyone has tried it?
Thanks!
Hi Louisa,
Pleased you got one in the end.
Reference that link you gave ~ Yes, Barry the author has provided an easy-peasy set up to place Jelly Bean on your N8010 Note 10.1.
One thing I will say though is if you do go that way in putting the German ROM 4.1.1 on your Note, yes it works but be warned it will cause a mismatch between your Note’s CSC (it will remain BTU which is British) but have a German ROM.
Now this on it’s own is no issue but and it’s a big but……. when Samsung ‘finally’ release Jelly Bean to the UK Note 10.1 Wifi owners especially v4.1.2 you will find that Kies will not recognize your Note.
Again this is because you have a mismatch between ROM and CSC.
If you place the German v4.1.1 ROM on your Note you will have to do the following to get your Note back in sync:-
1. Wait for Samsung to officially release v4.1.1 to the UK market.
2. Get the UK ROM file from samfirmware and by using Odin again run the UK ROM v4.1.1 which will over write the German v4.1.1 ROM file.
3. You will now have a UK ROM and a UK CSC file meaning you will no longer be mismatched.
Hope you got all that…..:)
P.S. If you want the German v4.1.1 ROM file the link to the file in the xda-devs link you provided is extremely slow to download.
As such I provided Barry the author of the xda-devs link with the ROM file linking to my Dropbox account.
Barry has yet to include it in his opening post but if you require it I can pass it on to you.
Bear in mind this file is over 1.1GB in size
Coming from my Dropbox account there will be no speed restrictions.
All the Best.
Mike
Hi Mike
Thanks so much for your clear instructions. I did install the update and it is working well, and now I know what to do when 4.1.2 is released
Id love to chat more with you about the note and pick your brains on a couple of other things (considering rooting the tablet now as I was hoping to put my apps on the sd card and apparently this is only possible if it is rooted) but I feel that I may have monopolised this blog comment section enough!
So if you do fancy continuing chatting about the note, let me know the best place to find you on, or alternatively you can get me on skype, my username is stormjewel.
Either way thanks so much for all your help!
