One of the features of the HTC One X that HTC have promoted heavily is the ability to take a picture whilst recording video on the phone.
Did you know that you can do this too on the Samsung Galaxy S3?
It is slightly different to the One X in that you have to switch to camcorder mode and begin recording vide before the option is available. Whereas the One X has a camera and camcorder button on the same screen, but none the less you have the option.
Take a look at the screenshot on the right. You will see in the bottom right corner a camera icon. This is what you will see when you record video on the S3 and this is the button you press to take a picture.
It leave no shutter sound in the video recording, nor does it affect the video playback.
It is not a feature you need everyday, but it is quite handy!
You can also now do this on the Galaxy Nexus. If you have Jelly Bean.
Cool. You on to Jelly Bean now then Paul? How is it?
I just got the galaxy s3 and I can’t figure out how to get the camera to come up when I video. Whenever I start to record the camera disappears
Hi Ashley I’ve had the same issue but the camera sign came back when I reset my camera settings. Try that it will work
Thanks for your help Sarah
The camera icon will only be displayed while taking video if the camera settings are set to save to internal memory. If you change this setting to store files to the external SD Card, this option no longer shows up. This would explain why the person above saw the feature return after selecting to rest camera defaults.
