There are now several Zynga games available free of charge for Android. In particular I’m a fan of the word games ‘with friends’ that it has to offer. These are great multiplayer games that can be played against either people you know, or random opponents from the web. They are essentially classic games that have been reworked, but the real beauty of them is that you can leave the application and come back in between turns. There is the option to pay to remove adverts, as well as the possibility to buy tokens in game to improve features. However, all the word games remain perfectly playable (and probably fairer) without spending a penny. Here’s an overview of the different games on offer.
Words With Friends
Possibly the best known of Zynga’s games, Words With Friends is Scrabble with a different name. You can purchase tools to assist game play, such as the word-o-meter to rate your word and tile count to tell you which letters are left in the bag. Challenge contacts from your Facebook and Twitter network, play a random opponent or play a local game with someone in the same room. Games can go on for days on end, especially if both you and your opponent are trying to make the best word possible on each turn. I’ve had to uninstall after becoming too addicted.
Hanging With Friends
This is Zynga’s take on the classic game that is Hangman. The multiplayer options are the same as Words With Friends and there is also the option to purchase tokens to enable different power ups while playing. Games are quicker to complete than Words With Friends, which makes it a bit less competitive, but Hanging With Friends is a great time killer nonetheless.
Scramble With Friends
This is the latest Zynga game to get the free treatment for Android and I’m playing it non-stop at present. A rework of Boggle by Parker Brothers, Scramble With Friends comes in the format of best of three rounds, with each round lasting two minutes. Not as time consuming as Words, but equally as competitive. Tokens are built up over time FOC and one token is required for every game that you start. There is the option to purchase more if you play a lot, or if you want power ups to use against your opponent. Add my user, Chrispw87, if you fancy a game!
