New Lumia 800 update ‘triples battery life’

The new 12070 update for the Nokia Lumia 800 nearly triples battery life, according to WPCentral. It looks like the update is not yet available in the UK, but has started rolling out to users in Singapore. The battery boost is achieved through better screen brightness and ~7 mA discharge when the handset is idle. The update also tweaks the camera’s white balance and sound is improved via the bass response.

WPCentral adds that it expects other users to start receiving the update later this week.

  1. After lots of thought, this is absolutely my next smartphone.

  2. 70 mA drain in idle? must be error here. 7mA looks far more real for normal standby drain.

      Hi Sergey,

I am not sure which is correct. I was going by the WPCentral article, which is linked to in our blog post.

  3. It has to be 7, but could be even lower. I believe that average is between 5 and 10 on idle.
