It is rare that a game is released that brings something completely new to the mobile industry, but Draw Something is an exception. It offers the simplest of game play interfaces, but with an immersive twist that moves the multi-player genre away from tapping on a screen and waiting for your opponent to tap back to you.
Think of Hangman and add your own drawings and you will understand what the game is all about. You choose a word from the selection offered and then have to draw a picture that will help your opponent work out what object you are describing. The available letters appear at the bottom of the screen and you have to guess based on the selection of letters and picture alone.
This makes the game completely different because you have to deal with the accuracy of the drawings to guess the object and this adds an uncontrollable aspect to the game play. Some players may not bother to dray objects accurately and you will likely dispatch them quickly from your list of opponents, but those who take the time to create accurate objects will make the game much more enjoyable.
It is hard to describe what makes Draw Something so special, but it somehow feels more personal than Words With Friends and other games that rely on simple word guessing via taps to take your turn. You need to at least try it.
