A design student named Kieron-Scott Woodhouse who studies at Middlesex University here in the UK has built a Smartphone made from bamboo that is expected to be launched fairly soon here in the UK.
The device will be called the Adzero and is made from four year old organic bamboo treated for durability. The Adzero is already attracting a lot of interest after being unveiled at London Design Week, originally intended for the Chinese market; it appears that it’s now due for release here in the UK.
Full specification of the device is not yet available but we do understand that it’s likely to be running on Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The device will boast a slightly bigger screen than the iPhone 4S whilst weighing only half as much!
Woodhouse said, “Bamboo may seem like a strange material to use for a phone, but it’s actually extremely strong and very durable, perfect qualities for this kind of application.”
