You may have picked up on this in the Whitepaper that we posted earlier this week, but it’s an important feature and a huge benefit to anyone that spends their time in various countries; the Sony Xperia S has quad-band 3G (and GSM) functionality. This is a feature that was included in some of 2011’s top devices (namely the Samsung handsets), so it’s good to see that Sony is following suit and has included it with its new flagship. The Sony Xperia S will operate on the following frequencies:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
This does mean that the Xperia S will be compatible with 3G networks in most countries, including some networks in the US. If you are ever in doubt as to which 3G bands your service provider operates on, we would advise checking with them first if a quick Google cannot turn up the answer.
