T3 has now announced the winners of its prestigious Gadget Awards for 2011. At a time when the two companies will take any victory they can over one another, Samsung has beaten Apple to Phone of the Year, with the Galaxy S 2 triumphing over the iPhone 4.

This is quite an achievement for Samsung, it’s the first time in three years that HTC or Apple have not won the category and once again underlines just how outstanding a device the Samsung Galaxy S II is.

T3 Editor Luke Peters said of the SGS2:

“The Samsung Galaxy S II is a gorgeous looking phone with slick operation, a great social hub and the best camera on any smartphone to date. It has great integration with Samsung’s TVs and a screen that matches the iPhone 4.”
