A lot of you will have been following what has been happening with the Samsung Galaxy Note (Samsung’s tablet/phone device) and for those of you that have, you will no doubt find the following very interesting.
When this product was announced, the exact pricing and release date were unknown.
We provided an indicative price of 500 pounds + shipping + VAT (if applicable). This price was the most accurate estimation that we had at the time of listing the product, but we now subsequently have a revised and more accurate price. The new price for the Galaxy Note is 559 pounds + shipping + VAT (if applicable).
We would like to stress that this price is still subject to change, but it is the most accurate price to date of the final sale price.
We understand that this revised price may seem expensive, but the device does an awful lot and is possibly one of the best options to date for a smartphone/tablet.
Secondly, we do now have an expected release date of the 17th of November. This too is subject to change, but previously we expected it late November, therefore good news that it is coming sooner than expected.
We will post on our blog (http://blog.clove.co.uk) closer to the expected launch date when we will confirm the final sale price and the confirmed stock arrival date.
We will of course follow this up with unboxing and hands on videos of the device once it is available.

What a ridiculous price!! Either Samsung or someone along the line has dropped the ball in pricing it at an exorbitant price.
Crazy price!! I’ll never get a Samsung again if this is really their fault.
They better surprise us when it gets released by making it 2Ghz dual core and 2GB RAM to at least somewhat justify it’s incredibly hard to justify price because at current price, it’s just plain old robbery.
We customers should let Samsung know how crazily priced this device is. They better have something incredible up their sleeves.
When is the expected launch date that you mentioned please?
It’s the 17th November
Ah, ok, the dual usage of ‘release’ date and ‘launch’ date led me to presume that the latter was when Samsung would make the announcements about price etc formally.
T3 is reporting that Samsung UK’s sales director Andrew Glass is stating that the company is targeting the Note at females because it’s large size makes it ideal for a handbag … thereby alienating the vast majority of purchasers who are male AND reminding everyone of the device’s one major shortcoming, it’s size, in the process. These people are geniuses aren’t they!
Probably not the wisest comments from Andrew Glass, but I think they may have been misconstrued slightly. I think what he is getting at is that the Note is suitable for the female market as well as the male market, not that it is a device that is being primarily aimed at the female market.
The T3 quote was that Mr Glass stated that Samsung UK was deliberately marketing the Note at female buyers, ie their marketing campaign would be focussed on women.
Interestingly the T3 page with this story on it appears to have vanished. I wonder if Samsung UK got a bit concerned about the negative feedback!
Yes possibly that is the case. The quotes from the article are:
“The Galaxy Note is really good for the female market,”
“To have a handbag and be able to put a 5.37-inch phone in instead of a 10.1-inch tablet is something that I think will capture the female market.”
“We will be looking at special propositions for the female consumer. There are different colour waves, thoughts and propositions that we hope to unveil later this month.”
So yes while he does say that there will be campaigns targeted at female buyers (many marketing campaigns have a different approach for different demographics), he does not say that the Note will be targeted ‘primarily’ at the female market (in the sense that the HTC Rhyme is, for example), or targeted at the female market more so than the male market.
I was genuinely planning to buy this device but it puts me off for its too expensive price, and for Samsung as being SEXIST..i thought this device is for both male and female customers?
I was defending samsung as better mobile manufacturer against apple, yet I was wrong….I would rather have an iphone 5 than this over priced samsung galaxy note….this wont make any further in its sale across London….no way!
Yes, I don’t know what the heck Andrew Glass, Sales Director of Samsung UK was doing saying the Galaxy Note is ideal for ladies with handbags.
Doesn’t he realize the majority of buyers are the male public (no offense to our ladies honest).
His comments only infuriate the would-be male buyers.
Verdict ~ Comments such as this + unthinkable high price = Goodbye Samsung, you’ve had you last penny from me.

Oh really …
That’s Marketing 101 stuff … How to screw up 2 of your better markets in one thoughtless comment !!
Handbags, man-bags, pouches, briefcases … we’ve all got one or another of those.
Please get with it … the new generic name is ‘POCKETABLES’ and – IMHO – the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus defines the upper limit.
If your pocket is slightly smaller; try the Samsung Galaxy NOTE.
It is not our intention to charge as high as this unless we have too. We have a price we buy at and we need to make our little bit. Thus this is the new price. If you feel we are taking a huge profit form this, you would be very much mistaken.
