Although Samsung was said to be pleased with the outcome of the Apple Vs Samsung Galaxy Phones case yesterday, it probably won’t be so pleased with the latest ruling from Germany.
Yesterday, the latest hearing in the case banning the sale of the Tab 10.1 in Germany took place and the German court ruled in Apple’s favour. However, this does not apply to the rest of the EU, only Germany. As Geeky Gadgets reports, this is what the judge had to say about the situation:
“There are a lot of alternative ways to design a tablet device, as the market amply shows,” the judge said at a hearing. “We think Apple’s E.U. design rights grant a medium range of protection, if not a broad one.”
This is a bit of a blow for Samsung as it now looks like it will need to re-jig the design of the Tab 10.1 if it is to sell it in Germany. Still, the ban doesn’t stop German Android fans from importing the Tab from say, a UK retailer, right?
