Not something that would usually be promoted when you put technology and water together, but sometimes going that extra mile to get a shot is worth it.
Most smartphones will stand up to a small splash but when it comes to water you cannot really take too much risk.
However if you really want to get those ‘underwater’ pictures when snorkelling on your holiday but do not want to invest in a waterproof camera, then investing in something like an Aquapac or Beachbuoy waterproof case (both waterproof and transparent) will allow you to take pictures whilst protecting the camera.
Unfortunately we were not able to go snorkelling (even here in Bournemouth) to get some nice underwater shots of fish, but we did test out the aquapac and beachbuoy and camera in a hot tub as best we could!
Here are 3 sample shots we took (all under-water):
Now all your lighting, angles, composition etc. go out the window here unless you are extremely serious about your photography and do it for a living. BUT it does give you a way of getting some different photos without the treat of your device being ruined.
Now you won’t get the most technically sharp and crisp shot, but you will get a photo that you wouldn’t normally have got because of your fear of the tech getting wet, and if you have a Motorola DEFY – WE DO NOT RECOMMEND IT, but you could even put it under water and take a picture with no Aquapac.
Of course these protective cases are good to for other things. For example on holiday, put your phone, keys and money in it and it will keep everything protected.
