Samsung Galaxy Tab Gingerbread Update Now Rolling Out In The UK

imageWhile there has been no official announcement from Samsung, various sources are now reporting that the Gingerbread update for the original Galaxy Tab has begun rolling out in the UK. Announced back in May, the update gives the tab the latest version of Android available for smaller screen devices.

As of yet the update has not been made official so don’t be too surprised if it does not yet show as available on your device. It’s also worth noting that the update must be applied via the Samsung Kies software, so you won’t be able to find it by searching for a Firmware Over The Air update on your device. As always we recommend doing a backup of any important files before updating.

I have a unbranded GT-p1000 bought from Currys Dec 2010. Connected to Kies last night and it offered me the Gingerbread update. All appeared to go OK but now Force Closes on just about everything. Phoned Samsung and they say it is an error and shouldn’t have been released yet – Need to send Tab back to them for 10 days to get it fixed – All Programs and Data lost !!!!!!!

    • Jon here, I have just updated mine and all seems to be fine – maybe you have been unlucky but odd that Samsung should say that.
