How many times have you though, wouldn’t it be great if I could just capture exactly what is on my screen now in the form of a photo that you could share.
If your using an Android phone it is possible, but can be some what of an issue if you have not rooted (modify it by changing the standard settings) it.
You would think it might be easy to just capture an image of what exactly is on your screen but it is not. You can use Google’s Android developer kit but even that is not simple (unless your committed to your tech).
However on the Samsung Galaxy S II, you can take a picture of exactly what is on your home screen at any time, by simply pressing and holding the power and home key at the same time.
A capture sound is made and the image is then saved to your gallery, for you to do what you like with.
This is an excellent feature and will make it easier than ever for Samsung Galaxy S II users to share on screen content.
So to take a screen capture on the Galaxy S II:
Press and hold the power button at the same time as the home button.
View the screen capture image in your gallery.

Yes, Samsung have been doing this for a while now.
I have it on my SGS, Tab and obviously the SGSII.
It really comes in handy, not just for snapping away at your Home screens but whilst browsing or in an App and you either see something of interest or want to send someone details…. Snap.. you have a digital photo ready to go back to or send.

Important note. This would not work for me until I figured out you must press and hold the home button THEN instantly press the power button. Otherwise you just end up with a locked phone.
Piers,
If you just press & hold the Home button that brings up the Task Manager.

Good timing. Saved me an hour on the Mac tonight.
The way it worked for me was to hold the home button, when the task manager comes up press back but carry on holding the home button. Then press the power button.
Yes, Shaun.. I have no issues in pressing both the Home & Power, it’s just that Pier’s mentioned a long press on the Home brings up the ‘Locked Phone’ which if it does on his is not standard.
As mentioned long press on Home brings up the Task Manager window.
On the Samsung Galaxy S (i.e. the previus version) it’s menu and back buttons. Apparently this was introduced with 2.2.
On the samsung showcase(a galaxy s phone) you press and hold the home and back button then press the power/lock button while holding down home and back.
When I can get it to work at all (2 times now) it just takes a picture of the Task Manager……Can you tell me how to get rid of that and still be able to take a screen shot of what’s under the task manager box??
How does this work? I’ve don’t it twice tonight but wasn’t paying any attention! I need help! It would be awesome!
Press and hold the power button at the same time as the home button and the screenshot will appear in your gallery.
Works fine on my SGS II. Just press the power and home button at the same time…without holding it…just a snap…then you’ll get what you want. The pics will be saved under ‘Screen capture’ folder…absolutely a nice feature from Sammy…
hold down the back arrow until your phone vibrates, then click the power/lock button and it takes a screen picture
No, that does not work on the SGSII.
The only way to take a screenshot is as explained above.
