Good news for those of you that have a handset from the original HTC Desire range; an Android 2.3 update looks to be on course for a Q2 release.
After HTC announced a range of new devices at MWC this week, CNET UK has managed to get confirmation that an update for the legacy Desire devices is on its way:
We did manage to get HTC’s man to say that the first Gingerbread update would be released within a month of the Desire S hitting shop shelves, but then he changed his mind and said it would probably occur within two months.
The existing Desire phones won’t receive the update all at once. HTC told us that the Desire HD and Desire Z would probably be first.
At the moment it looks like the Desire S is due to launch early/mid April, so if all goes to plan the Desire updates should roll out around June. Maybe a bit longer than users would have liked but at least its on its way.
