Samsung Give away FREE Galaxy S I9000

With the whole iPhone antennagate debacle that has been going on Samsung earlier this week hit back at Apple’s claims that their devices too suffered from signal problems.

Samsung’s PR team has come up with a fantastic scheme that in my opinion basically puts two fingers up to Apple and proves their confidence and how they handle such negative press.

The UK Samsung team on Twitter (@samsungukmobile) are giving away free, unlocked, and SIM free Galaxy S smartphones to angry (soon to be former) iPhone 4 users in the UK.

At least one user has reported that he has actually received the phone, and Samsung has been asking many other users for contact and shipping info. Check out their official Twitter account (@samsungukmobile) for yourself if you want to see the magic in action. [via Pocket-Lint]

Whilst I find this a remarkable move by Samsung let’s not forget this is nothing more than a P.R. stunt.

My question to Samsung though is what are they doing about looking after their own customer base.

I and many, many fellow Galaxy S users received their phone’s that are totally useless when working with GPS.
Despite many messages to Samsung apart from being told a fix will rectify this there is nothing coming back from the company.

Yes, they have told us a fix will be with us but the date it was promised has passed and nothing further is coming from Samsung when said fix will come into effect.

Many users including myself have now had our phone’s for a considerable time. Some have been told to first wait until the fix arrives to see if it fix’s the problem.
However, what happens if the fix does not work…. will users still be able to return their defective phone’s for either a replacement/money back or will we be stuck with having to go down the repair route?

So back to the opening content above ~ Samsung, look after your existing user base.
