So the original Samsung Wave S8500 was only launched earlier this month and already Samsung have announced plans for the Samsung Wave 2 S5250 and Samsung Wave 2 Pro S5330. Don’t worry though, unlike the name suggests these devices are not successors to the Wave as such, so if you have bought a Wave they won’t render it old and out of date.

Both new devices will run the Bada operating system and its good to see that Samsung is following up the launch of its OS immediately with new devices. The Wave 2 S5250 and Wave 2 Pro S5330 are almost identical, save for the sliding QWERTY keyboard on the Pro. The features that the pair will include are 3.2″ WQVGA touchscreen display, 3 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, 80MB of internal memory, quad-band EDGE (no UMTS/HSDPA) and TouchWiz 3.0 UI. However neither will be able to playback DivX or Xvid.

At the moment it is unclear as to whether or not the Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro will be released in the UK, but Samsung have confirmed they will be available from August in Russia and South East Asia. Customers can choose from the colours metallic black, pearl white and romantic pink.
