It seems that you can’t be taken seriously as a smartphone manufacturer these days unless you have an Android device release on the horizon. LG has just announced its first Android release, the LG-GW620, reinforcing its intention to storm the smartphone market in the coming years.
As of yet technical specifications are yet to be confirmed, but according to Wired News the LG-GW620 will feature a 3 inch full-touchscreen display and slide-out QWERT keyboard. It will rival releases of competitor companies such as Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung, who have all also announced plans to release Android-based devices later this year.
However, it is certainly not just Android that LG has its sights set on. The GM750, shown below, will be launched in October, running on the new Windows Mobile 6.5. This will be the first LG device to run on the new operating system, leading the charge in LG’s assault on the smartphone market.

The GM750 is one of three Windows Mobile 6.5 devices that LG will release over the next month. The LG GM750 will come with a touchscreen interface, while another handset would be a touch-based slider that reveals a QWERTY keyboard. The GW550 is also set for release soon, featuring a QWERTY keyboard in a candybar form factor.
2010 is set to be a big year for LG, with the electronics giant aiming to have released 13 Windows Mobile devices by the end of the year. With expansion into the Android market as well, it would seem the sky is the limit for LG. We just hope it comes up with some slightly more original/distinctive names for all these device releases!
