HTC goes for a rebrand

HTC have been rowing in size and reputation for some time.  However their desire to push themselves into a truly worldwide and consumer focused brand, they felt that a light change to the brand was necessary.

Therefore as of today you will begin to see a new logo about, if you have not already seen it on some marketing materials.

The old logo looked like this:

The new logo:

HTC Logo

The new logo offers a much cleaner and sleeker look to compliment their new advertorial work.  A Black and White theme throughout, the focus is on the brand and the product.

All this ties in with a 6 month television campaign with Film4.  Each day just before 9PM a 60 second advert is aired of a HTC Touch Dimond2 and soon to be adverts of the magic and other productsoming to market.

Android V’s iPhone

Without doubt these two platforms are the basis for what could be the biggest fight out in recent times between operating systems.  Both geared towards the trendy and youthful individual who wants the latest application or to download music whilst on the move but capable of serving a much wider audience, which one will be the most sought after and why?!

The iPhone has been around long enough to gain its avid and very loyal followers.  The Google Android platform found on the T-Mobile G1 and Vodafone Magic, both manufactured by HTC has yet to get  big fan base, but it is there and growing.

None of the applications available on the Android platform are life changing or as beneficial as some available for the iPhone, but it is only a matter of time before such become available.

The Android marketplace is the central location for the applications and a very simple process offers effortless download and installation of any application fond online.

Each have many advantages, the iPhone is better for gaming, and half of the top ten apps are games, whilst the Android OS found on the G1 by T-Mobile makes better use of the GPS receiver.

The physical footprint of the iPhone is bigger than the T-Mobile G1, but the G1 is thicker.  This changes somewhat with the HTC Magic, which has a profile closer to that of the iPhone but looses the additional thickness and there is no keyboard.

The future for both platforms is bright and there are bound to be many more advancements in the technologies and the offerings. Much of this will come as the techies develop the apps that are of interest to the consumer but even so, the power of both Apple and Google and their desire for market share will opens up the marketplace to some interesting and exciting opportunities.
