SPB Shell, one of my favourite applications,has recently been upgraded to version 3 and brings many new features and layout. 

SPB Shell is an application that sits on the top of your Smartphone and makes the use of it easier, quicker and more enjoyable. If you have an HTC device, I would recommend this over the current Touch Flo application.

It will put all your most important contacts together with pictures on a single screen for easy access to dial, email or text. Date, time and weather information will appear on the front screen with status indications and next appointments. You will be able to launch your most popular applications directly.

Best of all is the level of customisation to the screens so you can arrange the layout to suit your needs, just as you would if you were organising your desk. The application has been optimised to be able to use touch gestures rather than the stylus and there is a good range of default layouts for you to begin with.

Having used this now for 4-5 weeks it would be hard to go back to either the standard windows start screen or the Touch Flo. Given editors choice by Pocketnow.com, they remarked “The new Spb Mobile Shell 3.0 is probably one of the most advanced interfaces we have ever seen”

This is how the windows mobile experience should have been and hopefully Microsoft will look to include much of this in Windows Mobile 7.
